Re: Scrimmage vs Mississippi State
From MSU's On3 site...
Few notes from MSUs POV
"State played Oklahoma today in a closed-door scrimmage in Little Rock, Ark., and I was able to gather a few notes from sources. Oklahoma has a decent team with no major stars and the scrimmage was pretty even throughout. State started quickly before Oklahoma made a run late in the first half to lead by 1-2 points at halftime. Oklahoma ran the lead out a bit early in second half before State closed well but Oklahoma ended up winning by 1-2 points. Then they did some situational stuff and zone work, and that matchup was even. Later on they scrimmaged with just younger guys for a bit, mostly just true freshmen for both teams although Josh Hubbard did not participate in that freshmen scrimmage.
In the main scrimmage, Hubbard led State with 18 points while Cameron Matthews had a monster showing with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Juco transfer Jaquan Scott had a minor injury earlier this week so he did not scrimmage (but expected back at practice next week so no big deal). Rams Davis did not scrimmage and of course Tolu Smith and KeShawn Murphy were out, too. So interesting that State played Oklahoma even despite having three main guys not playing.
Sources said State was not great from the FT line or the 3 point arc but started off well from the perimeter. They only had eight turnovers which is good for the first scrimmage. State started two different lineups in the first half and second half so we can't read too much into who started."
