Heard we beat Miss State. Don’t know any details. Played at Little Rock.

Think we’re playing Vanderbilt Saturday in Atlanta.

Re: Scrimmage vs Mississippi State

I’ve noticed this has been happening more and more. D1 teams would never scrimmage one another before the season until a few years ago. I think it’s great but why hasn’t this always been happening and what changed to make it happen?

Re: Scrimmage vs Mississippi State

Miss St is 27th in KenPom...fyi

Re: Scrimmage vs Mississippi State

Ou won by 3.

Heard they won every quarter and overall by more than previously told.

Cooper played extremely well and Los is a star.

Great info. Any chance there will be any shorts or photos posted?

From MSU's On3 site...

Few notes from MSUs POV

"State played Oklahoma today in a closed-door scrimmage in Little Rock, Ark., and I was able to gather a few notes from sources. Oklahoma has a decent team with no major stars and the scrimmage was pretty even throughout. State started quickly before Oklahoma made a run late in the first half to lead by 1-2 points at halftime. Oklahoma ran the lead out a bit early in second half before State closed well but Oklahoma ended up winning by 1-2 points. Then they did some situational stuff and zone work, and that matchup was even. Later on they scrimmaged with just younger guys for a bit, mostly just true freshmen for both teams although Josh Hubbard did not participate in that freshmen scrimmage.

In the main scrimmage, Hubbard led State with 18 points while Cameron Matthews had a monster showing with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Juco transfer Jaquan Scott had a minor injury earlier this week so he did not scrimmage (but expected back at practice next week so no big deal). Rams Davis did not scrimmage and of course Tolu Smith and KeShawn Murphy were out, too. So interesting that State played Oklahoma even despite having three main guys not playing.

Sources said State was not great from the FT line or the 3 point arc but started off well from the perimeter. They only had eight turnovers which is good for the first scrimmage. State started two different lineups in the first half and second half so we can't read too much into who started."

Did OU scrimmage Villanova?

Re: Scrimmage vs Mississippi State

Red versus White ... or so someone said

Re: Scrimmage vs Mississippi State

My bad. Any feedback on how we did?

Well, according to insider, the scrimmage was today? Said we won by 5 and Uzan had a good day. Unfortunately, just like the first scrimmage, Vanderbilt was down to playing their trainers and water boy cause of injuries.

Hard to gauge anything from scrimmages because they aren't like real games, and there's a lot of redos and coach intervention, I'm not feeling extra confident based on these outcomes. These are two basement SEC teams historically with lots of injuries...

I would say, probably feel a little better than if it came out we got smoked in both scrimmages?

got permission to post these notes here

Note this is form some on that knows basketball but had little prior knowledge of the OU roster

"OU should have a better team than last year. Played pretty fast and shot it well from 3. #2 is their PG & playmaker, the O definitely runs thru him. #0 and #5 were knockdown shooters and 5 was strong defensively too. #1 is a big kid who I believe is a transfer from Pitt. He was solid defensively and was a big presence inside. They tried to get #14 going early who was a good sized wing. Wasn’t hitting but idk if he’s typically their top scorer because of how involved he was to start . Seems as though they’ll compete well in the big 12 and be tough to beat if they’re hitting from outside."

i was told from some one else that Los was limited (maybe didn't play at all) in this scrimmage

added names below

"OU should have a better team than last year. Played pretty fast and shot it well from 3. McCollum is their PG & playmaker, the O definitely runs thru him. Darthard and Soares were knockdown shooters and Soares was strong defensively too. Hugley is a big kid who I believe is a transfer from Pitt. He was solid defensively and was a big presence inside. They tried to get Jalen Moore going early who was a good sized wing. Wasn’t hitting but idk if he’s typically their top scorer because of how involved he was to start . Seems as though they’ll compete well in the big 12 and be tough to beat if they’re hitting from outside."

Not saying your source is wrong, just funny you say he might not have played and the mod at insider mentioned how good he did. Was the only name even mentioned. Maybe someone crossed up him and McCollum. Not that it really matters anyway. Hopefully he’s good to go in a week if he’s banged up.
