He is 66-66 at UT, and 31-41 in the Big 12.
This is at the best school in the Big 12, elite recruits, best recruiting capability, etc.
It could be worse for Shaka. He has a winning record (5-3) vs. Oklahoma.

You’re not alone, WT. I’d dare say nearly everyone here thought Shaka would be among the best coaches in the conference in short order. He is the definition of a coach who underachieves with the talent he brings in. If that trend continues, it will be interesting to see how long it will take UT fans to lose their patience with him and cut their losses.

Shaka's buyout is 12.9 million. I know texas has money, but they don't think they care enough about basketball to pay it
They have tons of recruiting advantages but definitely not the best school in the conference when it comes to recruiting basketball players. Unless Lawrence suddenly falls in the ocean, KU will always top that list. Tradition and fan base are more than enough to easily outweigh whatever other edges Texas has. But your point is correct in that Shaka has done a terrible job taking advantage of his situation.

The committee has plenty of reasons to leave Texas in the NIT .. 16-16; 4 bad losses; getting beat badly in the last 2 regular season games; losing 5 of the last 6; having a coach that has lost 4 straight first round games (including 3 against a double digit seed); and being a school that has lost in the first round in 4 of the last 5 appearances.

I heard the buyout goes down in a year maybe by as much as half, if not more. Much more palatable at that price.
