Sidorakis gives up ship

Not to "bedowngrade" Shaw but in what ways has he shown to be a sponge. In mop up minutes? LOL!. I agree, his size is an upside, and Dowell is definetely the player that if I had to choose someone to run off, would be the leading candidate. However, my point wasn't who was at the bottom of the list, but who was clearly in the middle of the pack and nowhere near the bottom when it came to projected pt. OSU is probably still looking at about 3 underclassmen this year who will possibly not be on the roster next year in Franklin, Shaw, and Dowell. I wouldn't be suprised if Dowell is gone by January.

Don't know what argument you're trying to pick. Why run off a solid practice player who contributes and costs the insitution nothing. If OSU is looking to bring in Nash and Leonard, probably cutting dead weight in the SF and PF positions is more advantageous than running off a Senior. OSU fans classic spinners. On your board, they're popping champagne and praising Sidorakis for Ford's dirty pool. I respect OU fan more because when Capel insinuated that he would possibly do the same thing this upcoming year, fans spoke out against it. Some fans still speak out against Ray Willis not being on the roster. Difference between Capel and Ford is Capel never oversigned and then cut players, players left and then he signed other guys.

OSU has two to give for next season. No reason to cut anyone to bring in Nash and Leonard.

My guess is a guy like Dowell may transfer. He was buried on the depth chart last year and is even further down this year. He has complained about minutes in the past also.

Capel didn't have to cut anyone loose. They were to busy jumping ship.

Thatn's my point. If you have two spots and you go and sign 2 or 3 more kids than you have scholarships for the 3rd year in a row, it's looking to be a bad pattern. Next year are we going to be praising Keiton Page for paying his own way?

Also, I wouldn't call going pro and getting drafted to guaranteed deals jumping ship. Can't fault that. Allen got a degree from OU and elected to pursue a career and family, can't fault that, especially since he was probably going to be down the line on the depth chart. As for willis, it was "mutual". and in the words of TMG, "Skool Aintz for me, ya digz".

That's an interesting interpretation, but whatever.

Still waiting on someone with this line of thought to reconcile the fact that Ford named Sid team captain for this year.

And I'm still waiting for one of you aggies to explain why it shouldn't be viewed as a problem that Ford got into this mess and needed Sidorakis to bail him out?

I'm also waiting for one of you to honestly appraise what would have happened if Sidorakis had declined to bail him out, as he was fully entitled to do?

In short, if you're right that he wouldn't have run off Sidorakis, who would he have run off, and would you have had a problem with him doing so?

I think it would have been Dowell, and no, I wouldn't have had a problem with it.

How do we know that sid's dad didn't tell ford or sutton that he was willing to do this a long time ago? I could see a scenario where he told the coach thy if nick graduated early he would pay his way his sr. year and open up a spot. No one has a clue what goes on behind the scenes, but everyone assumes things, nature of message boards I guess.

So it's a bad thing that OSU fans are thanking the Sidorakis family? It has been stated that the total amount of money the family will pay is not very much. So it's a bad thing that Sid doesn't need his ego stroked. If Ford told Sid that he would have to walkon or he would be kicked off the team then it would be different. Sid was never going anywhere.

Don't give me that crap about OU fans being different than OSU fans. They're all the same some are good some are bad.

No, it's not bad they're thanking him, but atleast acknowledge to root of the problem. And yes, OU basketball fans are different than OSU basketball fans. OU basketball fans have high basketbal IQs.

All the repubublicans in Stillwater, I'm suprised they go along with the redistribution of wealth.

LOL... yes, because OSU fans are the only fans in America that will choose to paint their program in the best possible light.

None of that EVER happens around here. For example:

Difference between Capel and Ford is Capel never oversigned and then cut players, players left and then he signed other guys.

PLEASE. Talk about spinning. Capel openly talked during the season about not renewing scholarships. So yeah... Ray Willis was officially a "transfer"... but we all know that he was basically asked to leave in Capel's "house cleaning."

Justify it all you want, but you and I both know that if Ray Willis was an All Big 12 type player that wouldn't have happened.

Capel did what he had to do... He was making room on the roster for players who could help him win by replacing a player who wasn't going to help him win. I don't blame him one bit.

And yes, OU basketball fans are different than OSU basketball fans. OU basketball fans have high basketbal IQs.

Right. I forgot that in message board land, my team's fans are all brilliant, handsome gentlemen and your teams's fans are all idiotic unwashed masses.

:clap

Yes, Ford oversigned by 1 player. It's not an ideal situation, but unless it happens over and over again, I wouldn't view it as a "problem."

I don't know what thread you've been reading, because this has been covered... the most likely candidates would have been either Franklin or Dowell.

And I wouldn't *like* it per se... but I wouldn't have a problem with it unless it became something that was happening on a consistent basis.

No spin at all, because capel got beat up on this board when he mentioned that. Edmond Sooner was one of the main guys saying that Capel shouldn't do that. But in fairness to Capel, he didn't sign a player until a player left. Now this year won't be that way, but his history has been that way. Also, notice where Ray Willis landed? North Carolina A&T. Guess who's dad was one of that schools all time great coaches? So I have to give Capel credit for helping kids land on their feet when he runs them off.

Heard Capel on the Animal. He said he is recruiting more than one player for next year. Al asked him about only having the one Scholly and Capel said there will be more than one avalible. So he is planning on either running off a player or two, or some leaving. How is this any different than what Ford did?

Has one of Ford's players that transferred not ended up at another school? Walker ended up at MTSU, I. Thomas at Cinci, M. Adams at Ark. State, M. Kirkland at Ark. State...

There's a comparison, but Capel hasn't done these tactics three years running. You're looking at Ibrihima Thomas, Martavious Adams, Malcoln Kirkland, Teeng Akol, Dee Proby, and now this situation. It's his third year in a row oversigning.

They have, but I don't know if Ford has found the kids those schools. Jeff and Ray had a good relationship and it seems obvious that Jeff helped Ray find this school since the school is in Jeff's home town.

LOL @ the longest thread on OU Hoops top page being about a scrub player who paid his own way to the worst school in the conference instead of losing his schollie.

Tyler Neal will be going pro.

Tyler Neal will be going pro.

That makes sense. I was wondering where the opening was coming from.:D

The only reason Ford over signed was he thought Page was going Pro after last year. I guess he has decided to wait one more year before dominating Lebron and Kobe. ;)

So you're saying it would be okay to run a kid off one year, but not multiple years. Is that right?

I say it's OK to run off kids every year. The coaches job is to win games. His loyalty is to the fans and university that pays his salary.

If a kid is on scholarship that is not providing value they should be cut loose. They are owed nothing more than an opportunity.
