@GoodmanESPN: Houston transfer TaShawn Thomas headed on a visit to Miami today, source told ESPN. Also looking at Oregon and Oklahoma.

Re: TaShawn thomas (Houston transfer)

Would he have to sit out? Avearged 15 and 9

Re: TaShawn thomas (Houston transfer)

He is absolutely worth stashing away for a season. Good player. In the mold of an Osby.

Re: TaShawn thomas (Houston transfer)

Meh. Good player, but if Buford, Lattin, and to a lesser extent McNeace are all here, and Spangler is still in the mix, not sure what we gain is worth tying up the scholarship for two years.

I actually read on the UH board yesterday that both of the UH guys that were good, that were leaving, were going to follow Dickie back to OSU. Didn't seem very realistic though.

Re: TaShawn thomas (Houston transfer)

I don't know Oregon's personnel situation, but I bet he ends up there.

Re: TaShawn thomas (Houston transfer)

I'll take a proven performer any day over a freshman we basically know nothing about.

The best teams are four, sometimes five deep in the front court anyways.

Those guys will be sophs by the time he is eligible.

I don't think he'll give OU a look b/c of the depth. From everything I've read, he is going to want to start. That is far from a guarantee at OU in two years.

We'll see how it plays out.

Re: TaShawn thomas (Houston transfer)

Miami and Oregon don't have a bunch of bums. All major conference teams have players unless they're bottom dwellers.

He's a Texas kid, who Houston has blocked from transferring in state, so if proximity to family makes sense, OU could be the place.

Thomas would've been the best post player on the team last year. Sign him up if he wants to come.

Re: TaShawn thomas (Houston transfer)

This kid has proven he can do it at hte division 1 level. Would love to have him. And I'd take him over a random high school recruit any day.

Re: TaShawn thomas (Houston transfer)

Both Houston guys are considering osu

Re: TaShawn thomas (Houston transfer)

He is supposed to go to Arizona this week and then OU the following week. I'm personally afraid that James Dickey going to OSU is going to hurt us in his recruitment.

Re: TaShawn thomas (Houston transfer)

Why did James Dickey leave a head coaching job in Houston to go to an assistant's job at OSU? I know it was "personal", but there has to be something to the story. Did his family just not like Houston? Was he forced out?

Re: TaShawn thomas (Houston transfer)

Dickey leaving a head coaching job for supposedly family reasons and then landing quickly as an OSU assistant. That, coupled with the two best Houston players immediately requesting transfer and a recruiting interest from OSU, fails to pass any reasonable smell test.

I was under the impression dickey &/or his family still had a house or lived in Stillwater..

Re: TaShawn thomas (Houston transfer)

Thomas would be a great get. I only wish he would be eligible to play this fall.

Re: TaShawn thomas (Houston transfer)

In talking to the OU coaches, Thompson is down to Miami, OU & Arizona.
Thompson is coming in next week to visit. If OU gets him they will
apply to the NCAA for immediate eligibility because he is transferring due
to the fact that the new coach is an acknowledged NCAA violation repeater
Miami has the advantage of his best friend being there. But he and his
father like the idea of coming in to OU and immediately being a starter
with 4 returning starters.
