For those who haven't been following this, UNC-Michigan State on are playing on the USS Carl Vinson Friday night in San Diego:

Organizers for the Carrier Classic and the U.S. Navy will make a Thursday night call if the North Carolina-Michigan State game has to be moved to the hanger below the top deck due to weather. The forecast for Friday in San Diego calls for a high of 65 with a 30 percent chance of showers. The two teams will practice on top of the deck Thursday afternoon where it is expected to be 72 and sunny.

This is also interesting:

Here's what the court will look like on the ship:

Guessing there won't be enough movement (of the ship and/or court) to make this a bad idea?

This game is one of the coolest ideas I've seen in some time. I'm anxious to see how it looks Friday night.

If the deck is large enough to accommodate 41 basketball courts, I doubt if losing the game ball overboard will be a problem. lol

I wonder if the wind will be a factor? One has to believe that if the wind can affect a 30-06 bullet traveling 2900 feet per second, it will play a role in shooting a basketball from three point range. Of course, if the game is moved below the deck it won't matter.

Interesting, in any case! Anyone know if it will be televised?

This is ridiculously stupid.

Not a big fan of this...just perpetuates the trend of coaches avoiding great home-and-home matchups because they're afraid to lose and be penalized by the selection committee. Nothing beats a great road game.

This is so, so dumb. I'd be pissed if I was a Michigan State fan, Izzo seems to be willing to play big games anywhere but in East Lansing.

I dont think the problem is with Izzo, People have to be willing to go to East Lansing.

this is very very cool .. great for the teams, college hoops, and the US Navy

I do not have a strong opinion on this either way.

the game is probley be on one of the ESPN networks

I love this idea..if and only if the majority of the fans are sailors and other navy members
