The future home of Sooner Basketball

going to a smaller facility doesn't solve that problem ... lots that buy tickets and don't go now are in the lower level close to the court ... it will be the same thing in a new facility

Wrong.

It would give the AD a chance to redo the seating assignments and put cushy doners in locations away (boxes?) from the main camera angle ala KState. Right now there are many people that are dead and/or indifferent on auto renew for years that never show. Would be less pressure to see corporate tix that go unused.

There is no debating that OU needs a 8-10K Bball arena - not a 12k and I'd make it 8K...

PEOPLE - can we start by painting the orange/faded red seats crimson? I mean C'mon!!!!

Oh great, now you'll have people telling you they're not orange...

Yes there is. Saying "there's no debate" doesn't make one side inarguably right and the other side inarguably wrong.

They aren't.

Are they OU red? Probably not. Are they clearly faded? Yes.

But orange? It's like some of you have never seen OSU or UT jerseys before.

we sell over 8k tickets for tons of games ...

and those "cushy donors" would still want the seats close to the court on the sides that is not going to change unless you just don't sell your donors tickets ... and that isn't going to happen ..

The University has planned to do some upgrades to the LNC and it was packaged in with the football stadium improvements. Then they didn't receive all of the funding so they are piecemealing it in phases. Once the football stadium gets the upgrades it needs, the LNC will be next in line. If basketball started creating more revenue than football, it would go to the front of the line. That's how it works.

THIS!!!!

Look at the uniforms OSU wore last night in Manhattan. That's orange!!

Make a cushy club style seating section and move the donors there.

Sorry I can't stand that team from the town north of Perkins, so I passed on watching them play.

Joe C has already said if OU were to renovate the arena, it would lower the capacity. Whether they only lower it to 10k or 9k, who knows, but he did say they'd lower the capacity.

That is understood without argument, but seating still needs to be addressed. I would like the university to come out and say "this is an area we are looking to improve, and this is our plan." Then someone like me (probably some others too) would then be more likely to open our wallets and give what we can extra.

he did say that and it is true a renovation of the LNC would at suites (at least 6) and club level seating ... and reconfigure the seating into a rectangle

all of those things would reduce the number of seats ..

some would for sure move to club seating but some would still want the seats closest to the middle of the court and close to the court ..

I hadn't heard that. Thank you.

Do you like having the eye sore of empty seats? Do you not realize how much it effects our program? Do you realize that the faded Nebraska red seats look horrible? Do you not understand that OU has lost fan interest from the corporate/donor community since the Thunder came to town? Do you not think that the athletic department can make up the lost revenue of the ticket sales of reducing the arena to 8-10k? Do you not think I realize that we sell more than 8k per game? Did you know that OSU absolutely torches us in basketball facilities? Did you know TCU just got a new Bball arena? Nebraska? Do you not realize that having the same 4,500 butts in seats in an 8k arena looks much better than in our current 12K arena?

This program deserves better. Period.

2 options
1) Build a new arena
2) Fix the LNC (reduce seating and fix seating configuration)

Lol at everyone thinking donor donations for men's basketball and total seats sold at men's basketball is what is at all helping this athletic department. Just tell the donors they need to make up whatever the difference is to get Texas tickets for football - problem solved. Basketball helps OU's bottom line/national prestige with National TV appearances and during March. Fix the fan issue or it will hurt these two things.

Lol at anyone who doesn't think the faded red/orange (who cares what color they are) seats don't look like complete dogs%#*t contrasted to the padded seats in the lower bowl. At least fix that while we are all waiting...
