Capel has to have said this quote at least a few hundred times in the past year or so to sum up Sooner basketball. By this board's association to the team he has also been summing up this message board.

This place was down right depressing from Virginia game up till the Colorado game when some light actually peaked through the clouds. The positive mojo combined with the last four wins have turned this into a bonafide "sunshine pumper paradise". Even some of Capel's harshest critics are either singing his praises or at the very least gone mute.

My only worry is now as a board we're in the "Never as good either" mode. Don't get me wrong, I've loved the 4 game win streak, I love being able to watch a Sooner game and not feel hopeless of the outcome. I love being able to read the board without the same ol anti Capel arguments playing out or one liners about Capel. Its been joyous on here.

I can't stress enough how amazing this little four game stretch has been watching this team. Even the wins this season before this had been rough with seemingly over half them full of struggles with Directional St schools and Little Sisters of the poor. Now finally in January this team has quality wins over conference opponents. Improvement has happened every game in players, on the court team concepts and the coaching staff. Hats off to all the effort that went into making that happen over the past four games.

But right now we have a problem facing this young team. This upcoming 7 game stretch would be tough even for an experienced squad NCAA tournament type squad. I'm not sure if the 2009 edition of the Sooners could make it through this upcoming stretch without a few blemishes.

2 final four type teams are coming to Norman.

Road trips to Stillwater, Columbia, Manhattan and College Station.

Then even Nebraska at home, the breather in the middle of this mayhem, could bring some issues. Doc Sadler always has his boys ready to play and this is also the same children of the corn team who nearly pulled off the upset in Lawerence. They're no slouches and they could be catching us at low and as Capel has said before "we can't out talent teams this year."

My one hope as the Sooners embark on the stretch tomorrow (beside a few upset wins) is this board doesn't go back to the dark ages of Def-Con 1 level it had been at. I know its a lot to ask of message board posters to remain rational in the face of losses but shouldn't this 4 game win streak buy us some shreds of rationality?

I know it feels wrong to say this as good as OU basketball has been over the past 25 years but this is a stretch where I just want to see effort and growth. I think I'll be happy with only one win over the next 7 as long as the team is battling, growing and staying upbeat just like over the past 4 wins.

As long as a win happens in this mess of games and the team progresses I think we could have a nice little ending to the season. The trip to Lubbock is a possible win as by then Pat Knight could be in lame duck mode and their will to win is lowered. Then of course OSU at home on Cade's senior day has the makings of a win. That would mean a 7-9 conference record and with a win in the Big 12 tournament's 1st day means a 16-16 overall record. With the way the year started I'd take that any day of the week and twice on Tuesdays.

Lets hope the team keeps their heads about them over the next couple weeks and lets try to do the same on here.

Very well said, sam. I agree.

This stretch is going to be brutal.

Its nice that we have won 4 straight...but I look at what the players are doing. The way our players have played..it wouldn't have mattered to me if they won any of those games because they are playing their hearts out and fighting til the very end.

No matter what happens the rest of the season, whether we win a few games or lose the rest...this is still a rebuilding season. Watching this team and players develop this season has been great to watch. I just hope that they continue to develop.

Great post! This will be a monumental struggle in the upcoming weeks, but I certainly feel MUCH better about where OU is going then I did post Chiminade.

February is going to be a tough month.

It always is and always will be. Conference play in the Big XII is hard. There are no terrible teams. If any team in the conference goes on the road unprepared they will lose. If a team goes on the road unprepared to play a top tier team they will lose by double figures and not even compete. That is just the way it is in this conference and really all of the larger conferences.

Great post by soonersam. Some need to read it/reread it now that the streak is over and we are going up against the better half of the Big 12.

Great post, albeit one that will be ignored by many. I expected us to be a Big 12 cellar dwellar, and it's beginning to look like we're a little better than that. Not great, but something to build on and it shows Capel can coach a bit.

I think Capel has done about a good of job as you can given the talent, save probably the loss to Chaminade. Personally, I'm losing interest in watching this team play, because we already know what to expect and it's frustrating. Will probably continue to watch other teams play just because I love college bball. My opinion on his job security is the same as it was this time last year...he has the 2011-12 season to get us dancing or I want someone new. Lots of time between now and then, so we'll have to see how it plays out.

I'd throw Virginia in there as well. And probably a few of the early non-con wins. But the bottom line is that he has them playing hard and playing as a team.

I agree that next year will tell us his future at OU.

When it comes to this board, you could modify that sentence to say "Things are never as good as Boca says or as bad as ABD says."
