Transfer Portal Thread

How does KSU land those two guys?? I know they didn't produce, but were highly recruited 4/5 star type kids out of HS. Hopefully we land another player before May, getting a little nervous.

rah rah for player empowerment and free movement, I get it

I'll never be content with interconference transfers. People will ***** and moan at me, but there are 130 D1 football schools, and 350 D1 basketball teams. Limiting you from transferring to 10-12 of them is not an obscene restriction. If you want to create a counterpart rule for coaches having to get some sort of restriction for interconference move as well, fine, but I think you should still have to sit a year for staying in conference. Don't eliminate it fully, but put restrictions on it, there are PLENTY of other options.

This portal is completely destroying college basketball.

It's not the portal that is the issue. Technically, the portal is just a computerized database that allows athletes to make their intention to transfer known to all.

What is the issue and legit problem in college sports right now is when the NCAA last spring changed the eligibility rules for transfers. Allowing one time (and arguably more than that by allowing an application for waivers) anywhere anytime transfers without sitting out a year has created this mess. It was supposed to allow kids that lacked PT, weren't a good fit, were unhappy, or had family situations to move. In other words, perfectly designed for situations like Issanza, Maewin, Mason, or even Harkless. But what has happened, combined with NIL, we have stars at smaller or average schools, like Hunter at ISU, that have become free agents. Look for schools like UNC, Duke, and coaches like Calipari, Pearl, and Beard to push the envelope over the edge in recruiting rosters now.

Until the NCAA reapplies limits on transfers or impacts on eligibility, welcome to the Wild West where coaches will recruit college players as much as HS recruits.

Kstate new coach is a good recruiter and he’s well liked from what I’ve heard.

Really shouldn't post this because of the length and amount of teams listed lol. OU is one of 400 schools being considered.

I think we land Key from Indiana st.

Just a hunch.

Key is listed as a PG. As you know, we already have one on the roster (Bijan Cortes) and another on the way (Milos Uzan).

Three is a nice number. Four is a crowd! Where does Mo fit in? Would he be happy if he gets his two guard spot back?

Are you asking if he would be happy jacking up 3s all season as our 2 guard and not the PG?? I'd probably say YES! He would have a shot to average 15 a game with the right guys around him.

Key is a combo and not a true point. Mo is the same. They can play pretty interchangeably and can play with Uzan or Cortes in the lineup as well.

Moja is our best player. Get scorers around him and let them figure it out!

I agree with you. But we have been told that Mo is considering a return if he can play the point, a position he could parlay into a professional career.

If Key would be brought in as a combo guard, as pnkranger has suggested, that would make more sense. I also think Uzan could swing to the two. I like versatile players who can play multiple positions.
