WOW ISU just got significantly better. Lofton and Osunniyi were supposed to play together. That changed, obviously.

He is a good player, but he alone doesn't make them considerably better. He has the potential to be a really good role player.

Council to Arkansas. Most probably saw/knew that though.

I’d give this guy a big bag of money waaaay before that dude from osu. Unfortunately, it sounds like OU is paying minimum wage while others beneath us are paying better. That’s unfortunate.

I’m not interested in paying guys that suck. If we are paying, we need to get out moneys worth and swing for the fences.

just for the heck of it, here are Allick's pics from BYU and NM

Those New Mexico uniforms are legit

If no one else portals in, is OU plus, minus or even with player movement?

i don't know much about the players coming in.
But knowing that we lose Moja and Harkless, even with their known flaws, it is going to be hard to sugar coat that we came out of the portal ahead

Assuming Sherfield and Joe B are both playing for us this season, I’d say that’s an upgrade. Mo is a very good shooter and started to show he can be more than that at the end of the season, but Sherfield has been a more dynamic player. And both new guys are better than Harkless. If Sherfield doesn’t come or they don’t get waivers, that changes things, of course.

I don't think we can assume anything about our transfers yet. They amassed their stats against significantly lesser opposition than they'll face in the Big 12. Am I hopeful? Sure, I'm eager to see them play. But it's premature to guarantee they'll be better than either Harkless or Mo, who are known quantities at this level and each of whom were key to any number of hard-fought victories during their time in Norman.

Harkless is clearly the designated goat for last season -- we see one or two get singled out every year on this board. I wonder who it'll be next season.

If Harkless doesn’t get hurt we probably make the tourney.

Agree with this.

If you look at Sherfield and Bam, those are probably an overall upgrade than the total package of EJ and Mo. The incoming freshman (Uzan, Oweh, Schroder, and Northweather) are collectively as good if not better than the contributions of Issanza, Maewin, and Mason. You could even throw Johnson in that group. Overall, IMO, definitely an upgrade.

You just need someone to replace what Chag and Goldwire did over the course of the season. And from the names being mentioned, I think we will get that done.

Of course, this doesn't even consider any growth from Noland, Cortes, Hill or the Groves brothers.

Sherfield played in a very solid league. If he isn’t a better offensive player than Harkless, I’ll be beyond shocked. I’ve asked many times for people on the board to tell me one thing Harkless did offensively that could even be considered average, and I’ve yet to hear anything other than people pointing to two or three “clutch” shots he made.

Can you guarantee he'll be as good a defensive player?

Honestly, your thinking seems to be "anyone but Harkless." I"ll be thrilled if Sherfield proves to be better than Harkless, but to pronounce him an improvement before he's even set foot on campus is premature at best. The Big 12 isn't just a solid conference; it's arguably the toughest conference in the country, so we'll see.

O'Garro committed to Colby Community College. I hope he finds success. Seemed like a good kid.

Sherfield is a better player than harkless. Period.

Let’s not act like harkless was some great player. He had some major liabilities. When he played his role, he was a very good player, especially defensively. When he tried to do too much, he hurt the team with terrible decisions and turnovers. I liked harkless, but Sherfield is on another level and simply a much better player.

I hope you're right. Let's see how he does a) defensively and b) in the Big 12.

Lolol this is ridiculous. The team won one game in the last 11 or 12 that he actually played.

Not really considering they were one win from the tournament and he was better than Marvin Johnson and Jacob Groves who took his minutes.

Little chance we beat Baylor in the conference tournament if Jacob hadn’t been starting due to Harkless’s injury. As for that one extra win we needed to make it, they would have already been comfortably in if they hadn’t lost 9 of the last 10 games EJ played. I just don’t understand how this concept is so difficult to understand. The team played like complete garbage for the last month he was in the lineup, and he was a big reason why. After he got hurt, they laid two eggs, then went on a run that almost got them into the tourney after being completely out of the picture at the time of his injury.

But back to the question that prompted this. Sherfield is a much better player. There is a reason he was/is being recruited by Gonzaga while Harkless ended up at UNLV. His goal was to get closer to home, yet the two LA teams apparently didn’t want him.
