Trinity Oliver to Baylor

Agree or disagree with skilled if you are a part of the AAU world especially in Texas you will see he is usually correct. I don't think he necessarily thought Mulkey was a poor player but based on how you contributor at the club level determines a lot of how you can perform especially if you think you can contribute in the power 5 conferences. Mulkey is 6'9" and anyone in the power 5 will want a player of that stature but what she may be able to really contribute is yet to be seen mostly imo is who she was able to contribute at the club level in her time. For OU sake I hope she continues to get stronger and make a huge impact. But when I read on here about you all being excited for kids that Lower level schools recruit it is not going to get better for OU. It is simple when OU gets more kids that Top 10 schools want you will be happy - so as long as people keep hoping for kids that can't play at those schools OU will always be behind. No disrespect to any players but it does seem kids get overhyped on this board. Look at what colleges are offering look at what home visits they are getting. That will tell you a lot.
I agree with what you've said...

What any kid can contribute is unknown. But, skilled was not just making an evaluation.. His remarks concerning Mulkey were the type that you don't see among professionals. They were personal and disparaging. They even challenged her character. Do you want that type of stuff on this board?

Excellent Post.

Until the Sooners make the above mentioned transition to signing more top 30 national recruits OU is not going to consistently contend for the conference championship with Baylor and Texas. In fact if we don't step up out talent level we might be chasing WVU & OSU as well as both schools have finished ahead in the Big 12 of the Sooners two (2013-14 and 2015-16) of the last three seasons (OSU swept the regular season and won the tie breaker for seeding in 2015-16).

We need not forget that Sherri won her last conference championship in the 2008-09 seasons. That is seven seasons with out a conference championship. We finished in second place only twice (2014-15 and 2011-12) in seven seasons. Unacceptable for a Hall of Fame coach!!!

The University of Oklahoma has been known during most of our lifetimes for one sport----football. If you go back far enough, we often competed with Oklahoma A&M for wrestling championships. But, our athletic program was built on football. Our tradition is one of being a football powerhouse.

We've never even won a national championship in basketball, despite all the publicity. We have won titles in men's and women's gymnastics, baseball, and softball. But, we have only been to the final game a couple of times in basketball.

Despite being a traditional football power, a lot has happened since our last national title in football. That has now been sixteen years. Since then, we have won a couple of softball titles, as well as several in gymnastics. We have also had the development of a women's basketball program from out of basically nowhere. Since that title, our women's program emerged and went to a title game against what many consider the best team ever, at least until this past year. Then, we got a particular recruit and went back two more times to the Final Four. In a sport in which we had never been past the first round of the NCAAs (one time only), we had suddenly become a national power capable of three Final Fours in a period of eight years.

OK. So the program hasn't been as good as it was during that run. It is down a bit from the level of team that went to the Final Four, although we did beat a Final Four team last year. The program, with no tradition upon which to build and no support, rose from nothing to a national power----all since the last time that the football team---the primary tradition of the university---won a national title.

Yet, if you go on the boards and wonder why we are not a football power, a great number of people will be outraged that you don't bow down to the great white coach. Yet, I suspect that it is often this same mentality that tends to criticize a woman who has brought glory and the Hall of Fame to the University of Oklahoma---all since that last time our traditional power sport---football---won a national title.

I am having difficulty remembering a superstar from DFW, one that won a national title or got anyone close.

2016 - Moriah Jefferson, 1st team all american, #2 overall pick in WNBA draft
2015 - Moriah Jefferson
2014 - Moriah Jefferson
2013 - Moriah Jefferson
2012 - Odyssey Sims, Nae Nae Hayden(both full time starters)
2011 - Sydney Carter(full time starter)

In the entire history of the sport of women's basketball, I am having difficulty remembering a superstar from DFW, one that won a national title or got anyone close. Maybe there have been. But, the area does not have the history to merit what is not a somewhat distorted appearing top fifty players in these scouting services. We see so many in the top ten from DFW, and that simply has not been the past. It seems to be more of the type of thing we saw with Bobby Burton and Max Empfinger for years----all Texas recruits were the top recruits at their position in the nation. This was actually the beginning of the Brown recruiting reputation of underachieving with great talent. They were all great in high school, according to Bobby and Max.

Let's see how some of this plays out as far as whether these kids are that good. Strange how it would suddenly become a mecca for talent. It's not like they dominate, even on the state high school level.

DFW area schools have won state championships almost every single year since 1999 in the top division and/or the next to largest division:

DFW has 7.1 million people, and you list two superstars? How many come out of San Jose alone? Kansas City? The Bay area?

At the end of the Day, you need Athletes to get you over that hump to a National Championship. Until we start bringing in more of those, we will continue to settle for NCAA 2nd round and getting the breaks beat off of us by Baylor. Shooters can only take you so far if their is no defense being played.

What happened to us recruiting players like Ny Stevenson, DROB, Amanda Thompson, etc? The Paris twins set the National recruiting tone but those 3 were the core/heart and soul of the 2009/2010 final 4's.

No matter what the Baylor fans on this board say, BU has been a major disappointment and embarrassment to the conference for several years.

With all the bragging, they have not even gotten into the Final 4 in the past few years. Even with Griner they were only able to win the championship one itty bitty time. Talk about poor performance. Sometimes lousy coaching caused the issues, other times players simply chocking at key moments.

Not to even mention the prevalence of sexual exploitation of women on their campus, the blame for which they admitted went all the way to the top.

No one wants to follow that losing image, no matter where they recruit their players.

+1 or 2. I guess tycat is +1

Bottom line is if you want top notch recruits then you must prove to be able to perform at a high level and most importantly win consistently! We have proven that with multiple B12 Titles and 2 NC's. ZeroU is not there yet and until then won't be signing any Odyssey Sim's or Lauren Cox talent! Have fun riding in the middle of the pack always wondering if this is our year:)

How many Big XII titles did you have when you signed Griner? 1.

And stop being a dick. You used to be better than that.

Unfortunately sometimes the truth hurts Sooner fans and for certain the middle of the pack is getting old.

Unfortunately, got mulk?? is a dick, like the previous poster said (figuratively speaking, of course).

Sad but true, it seems like every year Baylor will be in the running for a few top 10 kids, picked to win the big 12 and looked at as a lock for at least the final four... It's almost like they are the Uconn of the Big 12.

You can't compare Baylor to Connecticut. The University of Connecticut does not cheat while recruiting, and they play an honorable game that does not require the officials to overlook constant violations of rules and behavior. They are an example to which to aspire, whereas Baylor is something to be despised.

How and when did Baylor cheat? The things you say on here are so funny
