Tt @ ou

Great win for the seniors and the team. A couple of observations from the game. Our subs came in and played well. Portia (although she started for senior night) played well, coming off the bench Sharane also played well. K Williams played one of her better rebounding games, and showed a nice spin move to score. Edwards on defense is getting better about using her quickness to disrupt the opponent, and several times was able to tip the ball away from the ball handler giving the opportunity for steals. She could become a great on ball defender.
Hope springs eternal, so lets make a splash in the tourney.

Very good summary. Kaylon has a great spin move, just wish she would use it more often.

Regarding KK's spin move play, I noticed that Morgan cut towards the basket on the defender's right side just before KK initiated her spin. I thought It made the defender think twice about what to do and allowed KK to score.

It did give the defender something to be concerned about other than Kay Kay just going up. It is also important to note that the posts didn't try to force shots last night. They passed it back out rather than throwing up a shot at a bad angle, or a shot that was low percentage. Griffin and Kay Kay only had five shots between them, but they only had four turnovers with three blocks. The offense flowed rather than being forced.

I watched the post game ceremony and it was very, very good. Portia was very emotional, so much she could hardly speak. Nicole wasn't quite at all, nor were Morgan or Aaryn. Sherri was very emotional, especially when talking about Aaryn and Morgan. Vise versa as well. Sherri said she she'd known Morgan for nearly 10 years because she started recruiting her in the seventh grade. Aaryn and Morgan lightened it up a bit, but both were very emotional talking about their families and Coale.

The things said at this ceremony by the players is an indication of what I see as the staff weakness. Can't quote exactly here, but in essence, Jan - thank you for being our "mom", Chad - thank you for making us laugh, DeCosta - thank you for being there. So the only on who mentioned coaching was Nicole who mentioned DeCosta helping her get better. Wow, "mom", "make me laugh", "being there", boy that is some great staff endorsment for any future players looking at OU.

Absurdity!

I can't believe that anyone got that message from watching the ceremonies.

You are really reaching if you are using a Senior Night program as ammunition against coaches. Perhaps you would be happier supporting a program with a Vince Lombardi type coach.

I've watched several of these programs over the past several years. The things that the overwhelming majority of the girls spoke of, no matter how successful the season, were often the emotional aspects of being a part of a team. That's just one of the basic differences between men and women. Most men don't even want to talk on Senior night, much less say anything meaningful.

I admit to *borrowing* my daughter's sandbox and sticking my head in it this womens basketball season.

For those of you without the luxury of sticking your head in the sand, how did Tech become so bad so fast?

Kristi Curry? Being located in LUBBOCK, TX???

If I remember correctly, Tech had something like 6 seniors last year. They are all gone and Curry high tailed it not long after, leaving the cupboard bare for the new coach.

Good win and wonderful Senior Night! We shot it well from distance - truly hope this carries over into the conference tournament.
It's been a challenging season, but I loved hearing our guys saying they're not done yet.
I don't expect us to go out quietly … let's beat Texas!

Thanks for the Tech-nicalities. I guess whenever you ponder if this OU season could be worse, the answer is always "Yes, definitely." Look at Tech.

At least the girls got to have that win at home to end their season. Sadly, admittedly, realistically, we're probably not going to go much further this month
