Good stuff, as always, Traveler!

I like the players and the way our coaches have anticipated filling every void left by graduating seniors this season, as well as in the years ahead. That's how to build a solid program for the future.

When Thomas and Bennett are no longer around next year, Spangler, Lattin, Manyang and McNeace will be in a position to take their place. If Buddy leaves after this season, Buford will be there to pick up where he left off.

And so it goes, right on through the 2015 and 2016 seasons with guys like James, Odomes, Pritchard and Doolittle waiting in the wings. I'm also excited about Bola Alade. Something tells me he could be the surprise of our 2014 recruiting class.

Sure feels good to be able to see into the future, without worrying about any position in particular, except maybe an unexpected event no one could have anticipated.

I think this is Cole's last year. Off to Med school.

Anyone that can play D-1 basketball and get into medical in four years is pretty impressive. It takes nearly perfect grades to get admitted to medical school and basketball is a huge time commitment. There will be those that diminish CJ's athletic ability but I suspect those people couldn't even walk on at OU let alone earn a scholarship. Very, very impressive young man.

He is getting in to med school in 3 years, right?

Just a guess on my part med school may be 1 more year away, but it's nutt cutting time 1 year out, higher level labs, courses etc...

Nutt cutting time? Is he going to be an urologist? I kid...

Odomes went for 39 and 20 rebs in his opening round game this weekend. I dont care who you are playing... That's a dandy!

Helped his team win the tourney after this:

DAWGS WIN BOWIE TOURNEY: At Austin, Rashard Odomes scored 55 points to help Copperas Cove win two games, including the championship, at the Austin Bowie Tournament.
Odomes outdueled Cameron Mack in a 79-69 win over Round Rock Cedar Ridge. Odomes had 32 points, besting 27 by Mack. Chance Smith added 18 points for Cove.
Cove also had a 62-38 win over host Austin Bowie.

39 & 20 v. Del Valle
32 v. Round Rock Cedar
23 v. Austin Bowie

Nice little tournament:woot

Wow! Thanks for the progress reports on Rashard Odomes. Something tells me that the recruiting gurus have him underrated. Gotta love the prospects for a 6'6" scoring guard.

Wow sounds like he had an amazing tourney. Even if he was the tallest and most athletic person in the game (I have no idea if he was or not) 20 rebs is impressive when you're pegged to play on the perimeter in college.

I think the recruiting gurus missed the mark on Odomes as well as Christian James. Looks like Odomes is already proving that. James won't get a chance until next month when he returns from his injury.

CoachTalk is right, 39 and 20 in the opening game to lead his team to the tourney championship is one heck of an outing, regardless of the competition.

james is a 4 star on espn

James has transferred to prime prep. Doesn't change anything.

Really? Christian james left Bellaire in Houston to go to Prime Prep Academy in DFW? I hadn't heard that before. Deion Sanders school. They're having some serious issues (see link below). They may even lose their charter..... I hope it's not a repeat of the Dante Buford experience. I know it's where 2016 prospect Terrance Ferguson goes.

"The Texas Education voted over the summer to revoke the school's public charter, which would force it to shut down. Prime Prep officials have appealed that decision, which has allowed the school to remain open until it exhausts ts appeal options or the agency reverses its decision."

MaxPreps is a nice site to keep up with how the Copperas Cove basketball team is doing (or any team in any sport). Copperas Cove (CC) is a small town by Ft Hood about half way between Waco and Austin. It's very close to TaShawn Thomas' hometown of Killeen. You can see they're ranked 71st in the state of Texas...... before today's game (244 6A teams, 251 5A teams, 185 4A teams, etc.).

Some teams post box score stats but CC doesn't usually do it.
