Vandy Game

In other words, your "no better than 6th" was like 67.5% of all statistics - without basis. My "no worse than 4th" was figuring we would be behind Baylor, maybe Texas, and maybe West Virginia. I don't see us being behind any other Big 12 team. Vandy ain't chopped liver. They were in the top 25 at the start of the season, then dropped 3 in a row to really good teams. They'll be back in the top 25.

I'm afraid OSU has a pretty good chance of finishing ahead of us. I don't know enough about the Kansas teams, TCU, or Tech to know where they are likely to finish.

Tango,

Well, I hope you are right and I am wrong, but if someone put a gun to my head and made me decide if OU would make the tourney, I would bet NO. I really hope I am not right but believe my thoughts will turn out to be correct. Just not enough leadership OR scoring to make it happen. I believe this team could be number 4 with our D but not with our O. Again, save the thread and harrass me if I am wrong - WOULD LOVE IT.

I have to laugh a little at how quick some of you are to jump off the bandwagon. If we had the exact same personnel but no injuries, we would probably only be one game better, but we'd have people praising the staff and talking about how we had a real chance at the Final Four.

Not recruiting talent any more? Vegas is arguably the best shooting guard in the history of the program, and by the time she's through, her stats will make that obvious. Morgan is easily the 3rd best point guard (Counting Dales as a point, and DRob). Maddie has already been hailed as the next Dales, Hand is maybe the best all-around player we've ever had, Griffin is better than the average Big 12 center.

I'm with Badger in that they don't need to win to keep my interest, but even crippled as we are, we will finish no lower than 4th in the conference, which will guarantee us a decent seed in the tournament. Somebody bookmark this thread so I can say I told you so.
+1

You might think that if you chopped four fingers off, you might need a few days to recover. There might even be a period of adjustment until you figured out how you were going to get along without those four fingers. You might have to figure out new ways to grasp something. In this case, Whitney and Maddie were more than fingers. They were the thumbs that made the other four fingers work.

At this point, we haven't even removed the bandage.

To compare Maddie with Dales is ludicrous. She may earn the right to be compared to Dales at some point in the future (I love her potential) but she's got a ways to go before that happens.

Exactly. We only got to see her for a few games against weak competition. We have no idea what she would be able to do in the Big 12.

Now we don't even know what Maddie will be like returning from her injury. The same is true with Kaylon. Her injury can be very tough to come back from.

This OU team has something that not a lot of teams have - and a few OU teams of the past had - and that is grit. This team has a ton of grit and because of that most of us will be pleasantly surprised this year. Hang in there.
