Coach Kruger has such a lloooooooonnnnnggggggg way to go that I'm glad he is as good a coach as he appears to be. He's gonna need to be. I just dont think we are very talented. I'm hoping that hard work will compensate for that and I'm thinking he will get that from the team. He keeps mentioning that they have a good attitude and work hard.

A good attitude and hard work will carry this team to places they didn't go last year.

On the bright side, OU has two scorers in Cam and Bird. Fitz is also a fairly dependable scorer. The guards should be a strength as well.

While I agree the team has a long way to go, I also think OU has some positives they can hang their hat on.

we are so much more talented compared to last season it is not even close ..

grooms and osby are legit Big 12 starters ... combine them with clark pledge and fitz and we have 5 very quality players ...

now depth is a little lacking .. but we are much more talented than last season and will be a much much better team

This. And I don't pretend to be a basketball expert but even I can see that we have better coaching this year. And I have to think those two things alone should mean 4 more wins or so this year, which puts us at 18 wins and likely going to some kind of postseason tourney.

This.

I also agree with Boulder's assertion that this team is more talented than last year, although not to the same degree.

A quick analysis of the facts tells us that we lost a good player in Cade Davis from a team that went 14-18 last year. That's it. Everyone else is back, plus we added a point guard in Grooms and depth we didn't have in the post with Osby and Arent. An improvement in depth is key. Grooms adds a whole new dimension to our guard rotation, allowing Newell to slide to the two where he belongs, giving Blair more rest or less time on the floor if he's not handling the pressure well. Osby and Arent give Fitz the help and relief he didn't have last season.

Quality depth, more experience and better players are some of the reasons I have said more than once that this team will be an improvement over last year. I have no idea how that will translate to wins and losses? But if everyone stays healthy, I have little doubt that the big number in our win-loss column will move to the front this season.

We had no one to help or relieve Fitz last year, except Honore', who may or may not get much playing time this year. No, I haven't forgotten about Thompson, but I'm trying to forget. lol

Every returning player looks improved other than Fitzgerald on the glass, and he even admits that he needs to get after it. Every new player fits into a spot that was a major deficiency from last season. The team as a whole looks better defensively. That is what I can see after two exhibition games.
