I think a healthy OU is a national title contender. We have clearly shown that by how well we played the first 12 games of the conference season. I mean, we beat ISU, BYU … I’m sure there are more. Well, at least we played a lot of close games, like Houston, Tech … again, I’m sure there are more. Surely there must be
If you go back to after the BYU game, I had no doubt OU was a tournament team. The losses to Texas and Tech were tough but I still felt like the team would finish the season playing their best basketball. I mean isn’t that when Moser’s teams typically do well? I certainty bought into that idea. But then something changed before the first OSU game. Idk what. Starting with the OSU game OU started to play their worst basketball of the season. We can blame injuries all we want but the product on the court was wretched at times. A team can be shorthanded, play well and lose a close one. That’s what good teams do. But not OU. The team after the OSU game on February 10th is not playing like they belong in the dance. OU, since February 10th has gone, 2-8. They’ve won TWO games in over a month. And most of the losses haven’t even been close. That is not what tournament teams do. We can argue talent, injuries, coaching etc. But we, as fans, are delusional if we think anything is going to change in a week. Yes, I will be happy on Sunday when OU’s name is called. But there is nothing from the last month of the season that gives me hope OU can play well against another tournament team. Even the Houston game.

I'll even go as far to say that the team that beat ISU on January would beat the current OU team (eve without injuries) by 10+. Something is off with the team right now. I think we can all see/feel it. I have the same feeling in my gut as I did during the end of Tre Young's year.

Agree with all of this. After the BYU game, we were as close to a lock as you can be. To be in this situation is unfathomable. JM wasn’t hurt till last week, and Waldo only missed two games. Yes, it would have been nice to have Hugley, be he is a 20-minute role player who didn’t impact games nearly as much as some are suggesting. And his presence or absence has nothing to do with the continued sloppy and low IQ play of so many of our guards.

It does seem like most sites expect us to make it. I hope we do. But for those who act like we should be a lock and are outraged by any contrary opinion, we are exactly the type of team that people complain about every season when they are in the field. A team in a great conference who had a million chances to beat really good teams, but only picked up a couple wins against those teams. If you changed our name to, say, Michigan State, I am confident people on this board would be lobbying against us and in favor of a team like Indiana State. We will likely make it, but have no one to blame but ourselves if we don’t, or end up shipped to Dayton.

One potential bid thief just picked up a big win. And they did it by beating the Texas team that routinely bludgeons us, with contributions from (shock!) a true freshman!!

We need them to lose tomorrow or they could jump us.

I’m jealous. Do they play the winner of the Cincinnati Kansas?

Hugley was not just a role player, he was 1/2 of our only center lol. The other half isn’t enough on his own, so any team with more than half a 5 gives us fits. Take Hugley, Soares and McCollum out of all games and we have last seasons win total if we are lucky. Unfortunately Los and Oweh have gone into a shell and Cooper is apparently not capable of playing if everyone is healthy. If we are healthy for real, it might be a fun tourney.

We were without that trio for one game. As for Hugley, he averages 8 and 4 and is our sixth leading scorer. That is exactly what a role player is. I would challenge you to find any team that didn’t play a few games without a comparable player. Legitimately good teams can survive a few weeks without a guy who plays 17 mins per game.

Kansas couldn’t survive a few weeks without just 1 of its better players. They didn’t face near the comp ou did while being short-handed either.

You’re comparing Hugley to the leading scorer in the league? A first team all conference player and elite defender? And they went 3-2 without him, and beat us with him limping around. I’d say that’s better than our 2-5 without Hugley.

You did not just compare McCullar to Hugely, or even Soares.

You can’t make this up: DePaul may be on the verge of doing us a huge solid by beating Villanova.

Clemson getting destroyed by bc is going to put them in the bubble imo.

Damn, I thought DePaul won, lol. App showed 57-55 Final.

Nova escapes!
