I don't see that Grooms has done much. In fact, no one has except Osby.
I mentioned a couple of days ago that Grooms and Pledger would start. But, they would both be on a short leash. And that Cousins and Buddy would be in early.
There was a reason for that.
Saw some things from Cousins tonight. I feel better about him going forward. Just needs to stay under control better and work on his jump shooting.
I too wondered why Fitz didn't play much. He has been real good for us with great effort. And all the fuss was made about his whole family and hs coaches etc being able to come to the game. Doesn't make sense to not let him get more time. Hmmmmm
Well, this isn't pee-wee basketball where everyone plays so the parents can get videos and they all get to drink kool-aid and have cookies when the game is over. He didn't play because he isn't athletic enough to play against SDSU. Plain and simple.
You're right, this isn't pee-wee basketball, but when the game was looking out of reach I would have thought we would show the kid a bit of respect and acknowledge his work by letting him into the game for a few minutes. Again, he had his weaknesses but he always had a smile on his face, was supportive of the team and seemed to be a good teammate so I would have liked to have acknowledged him in that tiny way if it was possible.

You are right, I agree but maybe we don't raise the white flag because we want kids to keep playing until the final bell sounds? I don't know, but Lon is a class guy and I'm sure it wasn't meant as a negative against Fitz or any other players.
Yeah, I get that and I agree to some extent. If it was any other situation other than maybe Senior night, I would agree completely. I just thought it would have been a very caring and classy move on the coaching staff's part to give a guy a moment in the tourney, in front of his family at the end of his career. I'm sure it wasn't a negative thing on Lon's part too. Oh, and I certainly realize that Fitz's weaknesses are a big part of why he wasn't playing earlier in the game. He's a bad match for "bigs" like the SDSU bigs. Anyway, I'm not trying to beat a dead horse or carry a flag. I appreciate the seniors for what they did during their time here and wish them all the best.
