Wichita State v Wazzu

Not sure Joe C. is in the position to be telling competent coaches he is "not interested".

Johnny Jones and Marshall have been my two from the get-go, even touted Marshall before Capel was fired. The splash hire is not going to happen, imo. Both guys have ran competent programs over their careers, they deserve a healthy look.

Just don't see why people are so turned off by them.

I was on Gregg Marshall before anybody on this message board, but I softened on him because I was afraid he couldn't make the jump to major college ball, and I didn't like the fact he's been at WSU for 4 years now and no NCAA.

However, at this stage, if we can get him I think it would be a good move.

I don't understand why Joe would tell any competent coach "thanks, but no thanks" when the coach is inquiring about an open position. Surely, Doug is mistaken here.

I would be surprised if Joe C is saying no to anyone yet. Why does he need to? As long as he is willing to risk someone else hiring that coach away, he gains nothing by saying no until he has made his choice and has his guy in the fold.

So, I agree, Doug is most likely wrong on this. It could be that Marshall has had no response and someone interpreted that as a no.

ok...I watched some of Marshall. Tad kicks his butt.

Too bad we won't get the chance to find out now.

What is your opinion of the way CU handled the last 17 seconds of the Bama game? Since CU was ahead by one point, I thought Tad made a mistake by having his players use their foul to give with only 9 seconds left on the shot clock. I thought CU should have played the clock out to keep the pressure on Bama. A score would still have given them the ball and a chance to win at the end.

they played it the same way Scotty Brooks played the last shot against Golden state tonite. you use that last foul (before hitting the bonus) right before they start a move and give them less time to move around for their shot. then, of course, you drive them higher defensively if you can, call out quick on switches, and hang tight.

I don't think it's a mistake. Just a different plan. They have a plan A they like, you make them swap it AND have less time.
