EDIT: all things next years schedule in this thread .. ..

Nice mid major tournament field including Penn, Old Dominion,
Utah St, Davidson, New Mexico, East Carolina & Indiana St. Why would we be entered? I cannot remember the last time Sooners entered a non conference tourney as weak as this.

We have 9 new players. Need some time against lower tier teams to work on chemistry, role development, etc.

Loyola (and Moser) had been committed to playing in 2020 when it was canceled due to Covid, so I imagine that familiarity played a role. The Diamond Head field in our FF year wasn't very strong, but I agree this isn't exactly a field that gets the blood pumping.

And its ok if we are the winners!~

Re: 2021 Myrtle Beach invitational

Id be fine with a slightly easier schedule. It seems like Lon lined up a ridiculous schedule every year.

Re: 2021 Myrtle Beach invitational

I think knits intelligent to schedule this tournament early with 70% rebuild

Re: 2021 Myrtle Beach invitational

I sure hope Indiana State feels our wrath from 2001.

A slightly easier schedule would have resulted in us missing the tourney at least twice. I think the philosophy stays the same and expect it will since Shep is still on staff. We have the scheduling strategy down to a science.

I agree. Plus our OOC schedule/record is typically pretty strong, despite the schedule. No doubt we miss in 2018 if we had not played in the PKI, played USC & WSU away from home, and Northwestern at the LNC.

We already have some solid teams lined up too. Arkansas, Florida, + big 12 SEC challenge team for starters. Do we have another freight on game this year?

Don’t we also have the big 12 big East challenge

Re: 2021 Myrtle Beach invitational

I love this tournament.... Myrtle Beach is cool for the players. OU should probably win the tournament which is good for the players. Utah State/New Mexico are perfect non-conference opponents.

OU hosting Butler .. in BIG12 BIG EAST challenge

OU ark series in tulsa should be on

There would likely be as many Arkansas fans in attendance as OU fans, no? Not sure I like giving up the home court advantage in a "home" game.
