Well well well.. pm??
Chicago State is under-resourced and underfunded, and is trying to start a football program on top of that. They do have a nice arena.

It's the neighborhood public university on the south side of Chicago. According to Wikipedia, they have approximately 2300 students, including 1600 undergrads. It's really a school that has no business in Division I.

They've been kicked out of multiple conferences, but joined the Northeast Conference this year. Prior to this year, they were spending most of the season on the road playing buy games as an independent. After the conference move, it went from being the worst job in America to simply a bad job.

It's the unofficial school of the CSNBBS Conference Realignment board. Chicago State's comings and goings generate lots of discussion there due to its uniqueness.

They are one of the terrible programs you have to start at in career mode in my 2008 college basketball game. I think they were the literal worst team in the game lol

While I don't think Crutchfield would make much sense for OU, after one year of success at Omaha, he deserves a shot at a better gig.....even though Omaha is his alma mater, they can only offer so much.

Murray State would make some sense. Crutch is originally from Kentucky. They have really resources and WANT TO WIN.

Tulsa....there are some rumors of them moving on from Konkol. I have no idea if it'll happen but if it does, Crutch would be a decent fit. Omaha's best player - Sutton - is from Tulsa Will Rogers (walking distance to TU). As we know, Crutch is familiar with the state of OK and Tulsa can offer way more than Omaha, in both salary and NIL.

Other potential fits IMO:

  • North Texas (if Hodge gets a new job)
  • Oral Roberts - Crutch was an assistant for a couple of years but is ORU that much of a better job? Nah. Same conference, alma mater, makes little sense unless ORU can somehow double any Omaha offer (doubt it).
  • Southern Miss (if they fire Ladner)
  • Arkansas State (if Hodgson gets a new job)
  • UNLV (if Kruger is fired) - I assume UNLV won't want another Kruger connected coach, though, and I doubt a guy like Crutch will be pining to take over a program his friend was just fired from....but I think he'd do pretty well there.
