As it stands there is absolutely no way we win 10 games next year

With signs surfacing that Tiny may be gone, the situation has gone from bad to horrendous. This is what we currently have as a roster next year (if Tiny is indeed gone):

Pledger
Franklin*
Fitzgerald
Randolph*
Hardrick
Davis
Clark
Taylor
Neal

*Walk ons

That's a grand total of 7 scholarship players, 1 of which (Hardrick) was expected to contribute little to nothing next year. 3 of the remaining 6 will be true freshmen. Of the other 3 remaining, only 1 (Cade) averaged more than 20 minutes per game last year. If we cannot find anyone else in the late signing period this is what our starting lineup looks like:

G - Taylor
G - Pledger/Davis
F - Clark
F - Fitzgerald
F - Hardrick?

Now I'm sure we'll find at least one other guy in the late signing period to come to OU, but it's starting to look like we will be bringing in guys that are little more than warm bodies. 2010-11 could seriously be one of the worst OU teams since the 60s. Unless something drastic happens in recruiting (i.e. Jones AND Ross coming to OU), we are going to be absolutely HORRIBLE. A complete laughingstock. Interest in the program will fade even more, as will attendance. To say that I am stunned at the turn of events that has unfolded would be an understatement. All I know is that this is unacceptable. I realize Capel will get another year, but if it weren't for the financial considerations I would have no problems with him being fired right now. Ultimately when you are the head of a team or any organization the ultimate blame falls at your feet. If you or I fail in our jobs do we get to blame anyone other than ourselves? I know I sure wouldn't. This is just a total and complete debacle. I honestly can't remember the last time I saw a collegiate sports program completely disintegrate this rapidly. Just unbelievable.

what signs have surfaced that tiny will be gone? that twitter thing is a joke and is not a sign

Sooner Quick reports he will declare for the draft but not hire an agent. That's a sign.

absolutely no way hardick starts or gets much of any run...we will sign a big that is more talented then hardick...be real here, lol

Calm down my friend, I personally don't think Tiny is going anywhere. He is still going to class as if he will be on campus next year. I wish he would listen and get rid of these twitter and FB crap! All of them!

Man I'm not trying to be overly negative either. For most of the year and even immediately after our final game I remained pretty positive. But the events of the past couple of weeks (everyone leaving, missing out on recruit after recruit, coaches resigning, etc) have really sapped whatever positivity I had left. It really disgusts and saddens me to see the program I've loved the most since a kid (moreso than OU football) drop to such depths.

We'll have a tough time winning 10 games with Gallon. When did he show he can win us games?

I feel ya and would probably be right there with you if I didn't have talked with Tiny myself. Of course he could just be peeing down my leg and telling me its raining but I don't think he is. I think that when WW declared it got him thinking about that $$$ again.

That still doesn't mean I'm not saddened and disgusted even if Gallon stays. I think Coach Capel needs to come out of hiding!

He probably tells people who he knows post on fan boards that he is coming back. People dont enter the NBA draft if their real intention is to come back. If some team likes him it sounds like he will go.

Unless OU pulls some magic in the next week or two with signings it will be REALLY bad and Capel may be in a lame duck situation.

Here's the way I see the scoring next year.

Taylor since we have no guard depth he'll have to play full time we need to find a JUCO guy here but it doesn't look like we are in on anyone. I'll give him 7 points

Davis should be pretty solid averaging around 12 a game. I'm hoping it's over 15 or so because we'll need it but I'll be realistic.

Cameron Clark seems like a 10ppg type guy as a freshman. That might be a little high for a freshman but he'll get plenty of playing time.

Fitzgerald I'll give him 8 per game.

If Gallon comes back he can average around 15 per game.

52 points from our starters.

Bench I don't see more than 7 points from the group we have coming in.

59 points per game won't cut it unless we become SUPER good on defense. And take Gallon away it looks really bad. We may not have an offense that can get more than 50 a game.

I'm not sure anyone else can really give us scoring threats. We NEED to get at least 1 post and at least 2 more guards in this class but I'm not sure we can get that many impact type guys in this class unless we get Jones and Ross.

He has no clue I post on a fan site. He does know I use to work with the training staff, etc and an OU alum so he could be doing that for those reasons but I just didn't get that feeling from him. You are probably right though, if some team does like him enough and he gets what he wants he'll go but I think him not signing an agent, still going to class, etc shows OU is still an option.

10 games isnt that many. Id like to think we can win at least that many no matter who is here.

I really doubt if Tiny is going to be back, that is just my gut feeling.

I'm done with players that consider an extra season @ OU "an option", almost like it is doing time @ McAlester...

+1

Plus it makes me think of JamesOn Curry, who was promised all this wonderful stuff by the Bulls before the draft and took off, only to never see the court in Chicago...

Tiny could easily find someone telling him everything he wants to hear come draft time. I'd bet Capel has advice more related to his long-term career than any representative from any NBA team.

.500 next year...

That's my FaitfulSooner projection, about as good as i can see it right now...but a lot can change during a season, and once we actually see who is on the roster...but as it stands now that is my prediction...

we better have the best conditioned team in the history of basketball...

Another one of the problems of last year. Guys like Crocker, Warren and TMG refused to participate in the new strength coaches program.

It's just a mess.
