At Iowa State

It is my thought that you should have some evidence before you mount a campaign. Don't know of anyone who knows anything about Coltan's competence. Until then, it might be better to withhold judgement.

But, I don't mind your snipe. If you are on the other side of anything, I feel pretty safe that my odds are decent of having a better choice.

I think our evidence is this season. Did you watch the game yesterday? It was 39-11 in the first quarter. OU has 5 victories with Colton out of 16. I guess that might speak to his competence.

Syb, your choice hasn’t ever been better, you sorry sack.

What part was Coltan's?

Are you giving him a pass? Usually the entire coaching staff is responsible for disasters like yesterday. Certainly, Colton has not contributed much to Sooner Success this year.

What success this year? We haven’t had any.

I hope none of them transfer.....They are all good kids. We need to transfer some of the coaching staff.... then we will be OK...

Notice that the Tri Delts have joined the SAEs to highlight racism at OU. How many times does this happen?

What are you talking about Syb?

I don't know what happened about this or when anything like this "joining" happened.

Are you saying they are a co-ed group now?

No. There is a new news story as of late yesterday about an SAE-type incident that occurred this week with a Tri-Delt at OU in blackface. I think she was booted out of school. Haven't seen exactly how it was only her. You don't expect two such similar incidents at the same school, as though they didn't hear what happened after the first.

I am sating that it is inappropriate to make accusations without any facts. Do you even know what his duties are? Is he carrying out his assignments? About the only thing you know is that he is a part of a regime that you don't like, and it is nepotism.

You are correct Syb nothing of significance with regard to the poor play of the WBB team should be attributed to Colton. What can be verified is Colton's credentials show he was not qualified to be hired as an assistant at a top power 5 WBB program. Nothing can be documented that warrants his hire other than being mama's boy.

Sherri's total disregard for multiple highly qualifed experienced assistant candidates is blatant nepotism. For certain there appears to date to be no positive results from his getting the job. Conversely the negative publicity regarding his hire has been damaging to both Colton and the program.

Even if Colton develops into a quality D-1 WBB assistant coach in the years to come it will be after years of development as an assistant instead of being a quality assistant day 1 like available alternatives. Moreover he is going to be labeled as a bad hire by both the media and OU fans for the foreseeable future. That is not a career positive.

A black face video at OU, this time by a sorority girl using the N word.

She wasn't booted out of school but definitely was booted out of the Tri-Delts.

As a freshman, I was a houseboy at Tri-Delt. My highschool friends were members at the time. Later, my sister-in-law and two nieces were Tri-Delts. I would have expected the 1960 edition of Tri-Delt to do this. It changed, or so I had thought, a lot in the late sixties. Maybe, just not as much as I had thought. I was more surprised by the lack of class than by the racism.

Both girls booted, according to OU President.

OU President’s Letter:

“Last Friday, we all witnessed a shocking and racist video involving students from our University. This video was recorded off campus, in a private setting and was not part of any University organized activity. These circumstances create legal boundaries for how we can respond as a public University.

Those students will not return to campus. This type of behavior is not welcome here and is condemned in the strongest terms by me and by our University. This behavior does not reflect the values and principles of our University, our community and our state.

This video signals to me that we have much more to do to create an environment of equity and respect. We must be purposeful to create authentic measures to address and abolish racist experiences for our students, faculty and staff.

As President of the University of Oklahoma, I am committed to listening to our students, faculty and staff especially those of color who have been so hurt by this event. On Sunday afternoon, I spent considerable time with multicultural leaders, leaders from our student government association, student athletes and others who were personally and emotionally impacted by the demeaning video and other events that occur because of their identity. I plan to meet with these groups again very soon.

Their theme to me was clear: OU must work towards cultural change at every level. No one should have to worry about being mistreated and offended while pursuing their degrees or working at our University. Everyone deserves a healthy and respectful place to live, learn and work.

I am committed to being transparent as we work together to listen and form next steps for our University community. The University is a place for excellence, inclusivity and caring for one another.

I am also committed to engaging all students, faculty and staff in plans to: first, increase efforts to recruit more students, faculty and staff of color on campus; second, to review our code of conduct to make it as rigorous as possible in addressing inequality and racism; and third, ensure that our campus inclusion programs and training are robust and impactful.

Every day I hear the clock tower from my office window. It reminds me that I am on a university campus that both represents all that we hold dear about the collegiate experience and, at the same time, is a reflection of our times. My sincerest wish is that we approach our highs and our lows with a humble heart and a commitment to learning and character.

As we celebrate today the life of a man dedicated to equity and inclusivity and the value of every human, I ask all to come together to help me as we seek the opportunities to grow and learn from each other. In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., I ask you to hold his ideals high as we work toward a new more inclusive and caring future for our University.

Sincerely,

James L. Gallogly
University of Oklahoma President

It appears that OU WBB is not the only organization where you're experiencing denial.
