Which is it? Is he here or gone, or somewhere in between?

It's a definite possibility that he will be on the team next year.

I cleared this all up in another thread, but I'll repost here. It's really not all that confusing.

Barry isn't on the team but he is working out with it. He was kicked off the team several months ago when he quit. He's going to take up one of the schollies next year when he walks on, but fortunately he is going to be a body we practice with who is not on the team. He should be able get some quality minutes, even though he won't be around.

I have never understood the fascination with onore,Randolph, or Franklin, these guys are walk-ons and ARE NOT going to be a factor on the court.I have been a Sooner hoops fan since 1975 and I can tell you in that 35 year span we have never had a walk-on play more than mop-up duty. The closest I can think of is Tommy Tubbs and his Dad did have him on scholly.Kellen and Ski(Jason Skurcenski) were popular fan favorites but non-factors on the court.

The only way walk-ons will see the court this year is if we have injury, academic,or discipline issues. If we have to play walk-ons in minutes that matter next year(or any year for that matter) we are screwed.

Beau Gerber logged alot of minutes as a walkon prior to being awarded a scholarship. David Godbold was originally going to be a walkon but was given a scholarship. He ended up being a starter. If I'm not mistaken, Ryan Randolph was on Athletes First, so who knows. Barry Honore was a scholarship D-I player already, so who knows. Given our lack of ANY scholarship point guards, TJ Franklin may end up playing out of necessity, so who knows.

Finally someone who gets it, walkons are walkons for a reason... Tj Franklin is not going to win player of the year like some of you think

Your gibberish reminds me of another poster - Never mind. lol

TJ Franklin will not be playing meaningful minutes but I think that Honore will if he ends up being on the team next year.

I don't think anyone expects anything out of him except maybe a few minutes a game here or there depending on our recruits we bring in at PG.

Wow! Where the heck did those observations come from?

Please show me one post where anyone has even implied they were in awe of our three walk-ons? Honore' has been talked about in length because he is somewhat of a mystery. He won the SAC POY award as a freshman at Southern, but no one really knows that much about his ability to compete at the D-1 level. Randolph was a two-sport athlete in high school and he has good size for a guard, so there is hope that he might contribute at some point. Ryan and Franklin have been praised for their academic accomplishments.

That about sums it up, unless I missed something somewhere. If so, kindly point me to it.

Why are we even talking about them Is the point? TJ is not good, I think out of all 3, the bishop kid is the best.. Now let's worry about people who will actually play. Thank you!

TJ played last year. There is less pg depth this year. Why would you assume he would play less this year?

lol tj "played"? well i guess by that logic, cano was a solid player too... capel will play any other scholarship guys at the 1 as opposed to a walk-on who is not good, anyday/everyday.. i like having walk-ons and love hearing the stories about ones that work out.. but i swear im getting tired hearing about how tj franklin is going to be logging minutes.... sigh....

Every time someone says something to the effect that TJ Franklin will play any kind of meaningful minutes I can't help but laugh and wonder how much about basketball you actually know. He was a little above average high school player nothing more. I know he probably has improved since then but not even close to the point to where Capel is even considering him an option.

Who said anything about meaningful minutes? And the talk about him playing was when there were no D1 point guards on the roster. Someone was going to need to back up the TJ Taylor at the point. With Blair and possibly Newel on next year's roster, Franklin goes back to mop up duty. I don't see how any of that is unrealistic. No one ever said Franklin was a D1 player.
