Baylor postponed

This. 100% there will be a full Tourney this year. But I do have a question. During this season teams have been VERY (perhaps overly) cautious in terms of pausing and postponing games. It makes some sense in that making up games in the regular season is pretty easy and it’s also not the end of the world if one team in a conference plays a few more games than another. All of that is pretty easily adaptable without screwing up the big picture.

But the tourney is different. Can’t postpone games for more than maybe one day. I understand there will be a bit of quarantine period before teams arrive in Indy and there will be tighter testing. But what happens if a team gets placed in the tourney, is scheduled to head to Indy, but right before a few positives pop up and they are advised not to travel? What happens if on Friday a positive with several close contacts pops up for a team scheduled to play Saturday?

I’m wondering (hoping) that perhaps at that point they lessen the strictness on contact tracing and would just prevent positives from playing/being around the team. Because the only other option would be forfeit and that would really put a black eye on the tourney. I’m sure smarter people than myself have thought this through.

For all the above reasons, it is NOT 100% certain we will have a full tourney. There will most likely be a tourney of some sorts, but it could quickly turn into a sham. In that case, I would rather have Baylor and Gonzaga play at full-strength, and crown the champion.

i would agree with that. while i am not a fan of the way BU handled itself with Briles and even the rumors about Drew almost immediately.....when i used to read texas and texas atm hoops message boards 15 years ago. smoke/fire....and him and Rick Barnes basically daring the other to go mutually assured destruction in the media.....for cheating.

let the best teams play and win.

Three more Baylor games postponed. That means they will go three weeks without playing. I have no love for that athletic department but man that sucks for them. Such a good team with a great shot to win it all, but this will be really hurt them. Also makes it all but impossible that all their games will be rescheduled.
