We did our best work with those 5 in the game. It's going to take Newell a while to get comfortable but if those 5 guys continue to improve and we add some pieces in the off season OU can be back to the Sampson level next year.

Generally speaking, 4th or 5th in the conference, one or two wins in the conference tournament, then loose to a lower seed in the first round of the NCAA.

The best 5 started last night.

Curious, what is the "Sampson level"?

10-6 or better in conference. Very tough at home vs anybody. Lose consistently on the road vs top 25 teams. A blue collar team that pays attention to details but lacks NBA talent.

Our best +/- last night was Pledger, Newell, Clark, Fitz, Thompson. The reason is simple, they have the best skills. Cade is a nice hustle guy, but that's what he is. The other 5 are better basketball players.

Effort level and experience, Cade is in the first 5...

Talent, he is not...

Newell
Pledger
Clark
Thompson
Fitz

This is our best lineup...(at this point)

Looks to me like we will mainly have a 6 man rotation, with the possibility of 7...Was kinda weird Blair wasnt out there at all, gotta be something behind that...

How did Newell look? Does he have the look more of a scoring point or traditional point? I think he could be the key to the season. Not saying the best player but could be the guy that makes the most difference because of OU badly needing a good lead guard.

He is a scoring point, no doubt in my mind. Right now he doesn't have the vision or thinks like a point to really run a team as a traditional point guard. I think the future for this team could have him playing point on defense (so quick, he has lockdown potential there) and off the ball on offense with the half court being ran through Pledger or Blair. Heck Thompson in the high post directing things might not be too bad at times.
