Brady Manek has committed to OU

TY
Shep/McGusty/CJ
Manek/Odomes
Doo
Lattin/McNeace

that would be some killer line-ups...just can't pick..lol

I do like TY/Shep/Manek in at crunch time for FT/ball handling

I would modify it a little and have Manek at the 4 along with Doolittle... in addition to splitting time with Odomes at the 3. Actually there might be times where Kristian would be better at the 3 than Manek depending on matchups. So far James is subbing for Odomes at the 3 because he's such a strong rebounder.

For FT shooting, Doolittle hit 90-111 last season for an 81% clip. Maybe he should be at the 5 when teams are trying to foul us. Shep was at 76% both last year and so far this season.... as is James. Trae is shooting 87.5%. Manek is 0-4 from the line so far......

I just thinking you could put Manek at the 3 and Doo at the 4..if wanted...Give us some Ht and a good 3 pt shooter.

Def put Doo at the 5 in crunch time, neither Lattin or JM seem to be able to hit the broadside of a barn...LOL. I thought Lattin was pretty decent last year...too lazy to look it up. I would think Manek will improve, he's a good shooter. Not sure what he did in HS.

It's just nice to have so many frickin options.

Lazenby and Polla are the 2 that will loose time...with Doo coming back.

Basically we have:
PG - TY/Shep
2G - McG/CJ/Shep
3G - Odomes/Manek/CJ
4F - Manek/Doo
5C - Lattin/McNeace/Polla/Doo (crunch time)

I don’t think Polla is really losing time because he never had time. The only way he is or ever was going to play in conference games this year is serious foul trouble or blowouts.

true, but what little he had...was my point. Same with Lazenby.

I may be wrong but I think Doolittle is going to have a tougher time taking any minutes away from Manek than some believe

I agree, Manek is playing well. Such a versatile player. I think Doolittle will take more minutes from Odomes than anyone. I am convinced he played the four last year because he had to. He is a SF. Perfect size for that position and can shoot well. His shooting mechanics are wonderful. He will of course will play some four, but could see him being first off the bench to take Odomes spot.

i think he is very much a 4 .... i hope that he can become a 3

Agree with you. I actually hope they can both play the 3 or 4 depending on matchups.

Doolittle is a more physical player inside than Manek. He's going to get his minutes from Freeman, Odomes, and Manek. Especially as we get deep into B12 play.

I see Trae at the 1, CJ at the 2, Doolittle at the 3, Manek at the stretch 4, and Lattin at the 5 (post).

Brady and Trae are feeding off each other right now. Amazing to see 2 Fr. stepping up so much to help lead the team.

Manek is much better early than I thought he would be coming out of high school. However I did say he had beat Doolittle out before Australia. Doolittle will help a bunch though.

I realize Trae is the 1A star but a player like Brady would be the talk of the Sooner Nation most years and the two together are more the reason they are in the top 10. Amazing to have both these impact freshmen.

I saw a tweet after Wednesday's game from an NBA insider saying that Manek has caught the eye of NBA scouts, especially with performances like Wednesday's. He's really good and we shouldn't assume any more that he's a 4 year player. Hopefully they keep telling him he needs to get stronger for a while.

Manek as a freshman is Frank Kaminsky as a junior!!!

Kaminsky had a deadly low post game and could also shoot the 3. Manek is almost the opposite. He's deadly from the perimeter but is still developing an inside game.

Frank Kaminsky Jr. 13.9 pts, 6.3 rebounds, 53% shooting in 27.2 min/gm

Brady Manek Fr. 11.8 pts, 5.6 rebounds, 53.6% shooting in 24 min/gm

Frank better at the free throw line and Brady better beyond the arc. There was a significant difference between Frank’s junior and senior years. But, looking at all statistics, production from anywhere on the court they are similar. I’ll give way to one being inside out vs. the other being outside in but my point would be the versatility of a player their size and the difficulty defending them. Another would be the kid who played at WVU a few years back...not remembering his name.
