Buddy's Kings debut

At KU, that guy was was a stud. I do b there really follow the NBA at all but I guess he's pretty useless for the Kings. Hopefully Buddy can get some help.

He will. They're projected to have the most "Draft Trade Value" in this year's draft with two top 10 picks and four top 36 picks. ESPN currently has him projected to be running alongside Fox and Tatum next year, which seems unlikely given Fox's tourney run, but the thought likely has Sacramento salivating. They've got some backcourt talent, and I'd imagine one of them pans out, though I'm not sure which one, and I'm sure they'll be right back in the lottery next year to pluck some more talent. This could turn out to be a better spot for Buddy in the end.

Buddy still has a chance to catch / pass Malcolm Brogden for the 2016 NBA Draft rookie scoring champion. Brogden is at 10.3 and Hield is 10.1. In fairness, though, Brogden has had a better rookie year regardless if Buddy catches him.

With only 5-6 games left in the season, here is how I see the R.O.Y. voting:

1) Embiid (2014 NBA Draft)
2) Brogden
3) Saric (2014 NBA Draft)
4) Hield
5) Murray or Chriss

Even with his tourney run he's going to be picked 4th at best. I still believe he'll be the best out of the 4 top PGs.

Kings are reportedly talking to Sam Hinkie. That would be incredible for Buddy, as Hinkie is probably the smartest guy in the league.

Guy that ran the 76ers into the ground by drafting all post players? Trading away their only good players at guard? Well I guess Buddy won't be in Sacramento for long.

No, the former Bain consultant and then Private Equity guy who got an MBA from Stanford, and acquired an astronomical amount of assets for the 76ers. The same 76ers who have 2 of the top 3 finishers in this years ROTY vote, and that's not counting the #1 pick from this past season. This year, they'll be drafting in the top 5 of a completely loaded draft and will be able to get a PG.

This team is absolutely loaded for the future, and it's because Sam Hinkie is a freaking genius who earned his chops advising CEOs and then acquiring real companies, and he ran circles around the former basketball players and clowns that run most NBA franchises.

Trust the Process, Nick. This is the guy who saw no future in duking it out for 8th in the East every year and turned the Association on its axis. Hinkie would be a wonderful hire for Sacramento, but he's too smart to get involved with Vivek and his traveling circus.

Although he should be taken out back and shot for the Okafor pick.

Out of all those picks they've traded Noel & probably will trade Okafor while still sucking. Also by the time those guys start maturing & playing better they will also have expiring contracts at the same time.

Good list.

I really like saric...he doesn't look like a rookie out there

Wait, there are still people out there that think Philly was competently run? They've had top draft picks for 5 years and they're still total garbage. They kept drafting guys that play the same position, and just traded one of their top picks for a late first round backup who couldn't get on the floor in Dallas.

A lot of theories, and I tend to believe them, that ownership told him he had to take Okafor. Because judging from every single other pick and trade Hinkie made, it's completely clear that he knew players like Okafor have little value in the league anymore.

And I'm just laughing at people who are pointing at the Sixers not winning as evidence of anything. Hinkie wasn't trying to win! He was accumulating assets, of which they now have a ton. He was playing for the long game, because that was the smart thing to do. He just got his legs cut out from under him before he had a chance to see this thing through.

As for the Noel trade, yes that was bad. But it wasn't made by Hinkie, and wasn't a trade he would have made. Regardless, the Sixers have a great future ahead of them because of the work Hinkie did. Although the shortsighted among us think they would be better off winning 40 games a season with a core of Jrue Holiday, Evan Turner and Thaddeus Young.

Nobody said that. People know you have to tank. But he tanked poorly. What good are all their supposed assets right now?

What do you mean "supposed" assets? They are going to have first and second in the Rookie of the Year on their roster, and will have the favorite for next year's Rookie of the Year next year. They'll also be adding an elite point guard prospect, and have more cap room than anyone in the league.

They have a fantastic foundation to build on going forward.

And your supposed favorite for next year's ROY was drafted by the current GM.

Moving the discussion back to Buddy -- he was named Rookie of the Month for the second time!

LMAO. Of course Hinkie wasn't going to take the consensus #1 overall pick. What a joke.

You can't say he ran circles around the other franchises at this point, as he doesn't have all that much to show for it. Right now, the 76ers only have one player that could haul more than a late 1st round pick, and he's never played a single NBA game. Don't tell me how great Embiid is, because while you'd be right, he's headed out the same door as Oden and Ming.

In theory it could work, but they've sucked for years, and there's no end in sight.

I agree, but 4th is too high for Sacramento. They were projected to pick him at 10 before the tourney. I wouldn't be surprised if both Tatum and Fox were both gone by the time Sacramento go their fist pick.

But I imagine they will grab either Smith or Fox, and those are nice additions for sure.

Hey, guys, how about that Buddy Hield? We've got a whole other board for general NBA discussion.
