BYU wants in the Big 12... League says no.

Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner!

Back in 70's and 80's SEC only played 6 conference games when Big 8 was playing all 7 opponents. Alabama rarely played Georgia or anyone that was remotely good so they were always playing in Sugar Bowl. They've played for the betterment of the conference for decades! We ALWAYS WANTED to play Nebraska!

Fixed it for you. OU was never afraid to play anybody

I want 12 for a conference championship game in football. But there is no one left worth getting, so it's not happening. The not getting Louisville thing was horrendous, but can't do anything about it now.

And I agree with those who are saying that realignment, at least for the relevant conferences is done until a possible split from the NCAA by said relevant schools.

That "One True Champion" stuff is bunk in football.

Home vs away games makes a world of difference. How is Baylor better than OU b/c the two teams are even, other than OU beats Baylor in Norman, as opposed to having to play in Waco? And some schools get schedules that are loaded with either good/bad matchups in terms of location, every other year (ie, they play the perennially tough teams either all at home, or all on the road during a given season). Anybody that plays OU and UT both at home, or on the road, has an advantage over teams that have to play one at home and on the road each year. That stuff isn't even. lol

I'm also guessing the first year the loser of the SEC Championship game, and the winner of the Big 12 have very similar resumes, it's going to be the SEC getting a second team over the Big 12. Same with any conference really. It's funny seeing so many OU fans no care about a Big 12 Championship game, when for years, OU fans complained about conferences that didn't have such a game. Then they add it, we do away with it, and we're still in the "right". That is silly.

It's just going to be brand names getting in the playoffs. SEC #2 is going to trump every Big XII team outside of OU and Texas. We already saw that in 2011.

WT, we had two conference championship games. OU vs Okie St and Baylor vs Texas. Both on national TV the same day as the other conference championship games. When OU and Texas each play games on that day what are the odds one or both of them are not relevant to the Big 12 title? slim to none.

What are the odds that those games will mean something? There are going to be years, a lot of years I'd think, where the conference title will already be wrapped up. OSU isn't going to stay relevant. It worked out this year, but the true Championship games overshadowed the Big 12 games in terms of tv and being talked about.

And I don't even think UT plays that weekend next year, unless the schedule is subject to change.
