Capel saved his job!!!!!!!!!!

If he's gone..then he's gone...but the only source that I will believe is from Joe C.

I have no idea if those guys over there are reliable. All we can do is wait and see. If a decision has been made, I don't think today made a difference.

1 more season will show if he can win with an experience, talented team that doesn't have Blake.

How will next year be more experienced?

We lose a senior, and replace him with a guy that won't have played a game in almost two years. Most people expect a new pg, rather that be a true frosh, or a JUCO that is new to OU. Goff should be the first big off the bench with the roster we know today, he'll be new. And if we land Jurick, he'll be new.

In theory, we could have 3 of our top 7-8 players next year new to the program. And that isn't even considering if bench guys and practice guys like Thompson/Hardrick/Honore leave. Even more new players.

Exactly. He might be gone. But the answer will be revealed within a week of us losing in the big 12 tourney. If they waited any longer...it would just be hurtful to Capels recruiting.(If they kept him)

When you only lose 1 guy...that means you will return all but 1 guy(thats experience). Last year we returned 3 guys..thats not an experience team.

Honore isn't on scholarship...hes not leaving. Thompson may leave, or he may not but its good to have those guys to go up against in practice. Hardrick is gone!!!

If you can't tell the difference between an experience team and one that is not...than its hard to really take you serious.

Listen, as a member of that site, their basketball is a joke thus why I am over here.

Definitely agree. I think they forget that we even have a team. They cover football recruiting, football and now baseball....that's it. But two posters seem to be over there fighting over sources.

those same connected posters on soonerscoop said carl hobbs was the coach after Sampson left.....not exactly reliable

If you go to either rivals or scout and take the kids that are ranked between 50 and 100...you will see 80% of those kids don't contribute til their an upper classmen. And some never even mount to anything.

And the only reason Pledger and Fitz played so much as freshmen was b/c we were young and not that deep.

There you go making numbers up again. That 80% is fictional.

Not sure where Bookout was rated, if he even was, but it was certainly outside the top 50. He contributed right away on good teams. LMac was around #80, and he contributed right away. AJ was outside the top 150, and contributed right away. Taylor Griffin was #141, and certainly contributed right away. Keith Clark was #57, and was going to contribute right away. Tony Crocker was #80, and was ready to start from day 1. TMG was #46, he could start right away. Fitz at #70 was ready to contribute right away. Pledger at #121 was certainly worth of PT as a true frosh.

Going back to 2003, the only kids in the 50-100 range that needed seasoning were Longar and Neysmith, I think. I might have missed one.

Looking at the last class, I see a ton of guys that get good minutes. Some for good teams, some for bad. Phil Pressey, #61, starts for a ranked Mizzou team. Jeremy Lamb, #76, is the third highest scorer for UCONN. Trevor Releford, #90, starts and averages double figures for a pretty good Bama team.

The list goes on and on.

And I just told you, it's entirely possible that we start 3 guys that didn't play for OU this year, two of which aren't even on campus.

That isn't experience.

Wow...do i even prove you wrong and waste my time and show you just how many 50-100 players from last season that aren't contributing that much or just say look it up on your own?!?1

Yes it is. When you return 4 starters and your top 3 reserves off the bench...thats experience. If 3 guys can come in and beat out the other guys....that just means you will have a better team. Still experience.

I'm sure there are some that aren't. But you said 80%. That would mean you think out of those 50 kids, 10 of them contribute on average. I looked at 5 players, and found three from last year that start, and average double figures.

Me thinks your 80% isn't close. And some of the ones not contributing might be stuck behind a better player. That doesn't mean they can't contribute, or couldn't at OU. It just means they can't where they are.

Hollis price was outside the top 50 I think. Just another example. Your comment was ridiculous. OU built a lot of good teams not having a single top 50 player on it.

Where is statguy when you need him.

Taylor Griffin played 11 minutes/game and 3.1 points and 2.8 rebounds/game his freshman year

Austin Johnson played 17 points/game and averaged 3.0 points, 2 rebounds, 1.8 assists/game his freshman year

I have some time...challenge accepted.

Whatever dude. That doesn't even make sense. If the guys we recruit come in and beat out a bunch of current players, the guys we'll be playing aren't experienced. That is what matters. Not that you have a senior sitting at the end of the bench.

Holis Price was ranked right at 50 or maybe 51 and he averaged 7.2 points/game his freshman year

That is still contributing. Especially when you start, or are the first big man off the bench. Just b/c Kelvin didn't let them, or need them, to shoot a lot, doesn't mean that both didn't play pretty big roles on good teams. Sorry, but if you are the first guard or big off the bench, you are contributing. If you are the starting pg, you are contributing. Points don't matter.
