Could Stephen Clark be OU's PG of the future?

Thanks, 152219!

If all of Clark's 21 points came on treys. I wonder how many shots he took to make 7? Sounds like he could be a terrific shooter in the making if he continues to improve over the next three years.

Unfortunately, boxscores are hard to find for HS games (at least on-line). Will probably have one next week. But Douglass should be state champs by that time.

Looks like the game was back and forth with Douglass having a run, followed by Woodward making it close again.

I wonder if there is any chance the Heckart kid from Woodward has a chance to be a low level D1 recruit or if he is going to have to go to a DII or NAIA school....one of the guys who has actually seen him play will have to post, as I have only followed via on-line stories.

Nice reports, sam and grace! Thanks!!!

Sounds like young Mr. Clark has a ways to go before he is a legit D-1 recruit. I had never heard of the kid before I read the story about him in this morning's Oklahoman. I couldn't help but notice that he was a freshman who led his team in scoring, a rare feat for an undefeated playoff team.

To me he sounds like exactly the type of kid OU, OSU and Tulsa should all be recruiting. You can show interest and then back away much easier than get it late.

Yep, like the above poster said it sounded like Manning invited him to KU's camp. I am sure he already has one to OU's camp. He is a shooter and hunts his shot really well.

Stephen Clark will be on TV today in the state title game against McGuiness. I believe the start is at 5:45. It's on Cox Channel 7.

Clark had 20 last night as Douglass won by 30 points over Tulsa McLain. McGuiness beat Star Spencer by 16.

Watching this kid on TV now and he is beyond impressive. My goodness. True freshman has already hit double digits in the state championship game with six minutes to go in the second quarter. hit an NBA range three a few minutes ago. Wow.

He can definitely fill it up from deep. It will be interesting to see what happens when all the guys graduate and he goes it alone. From everything I hear around school he is a pretty good kid too.

On a 2013 state of Oklahoma related prospect front I saw Juwaun Parker today out of Booker T Washington in their State Tournament game.
I've heard that Parker is the best kid in the East Side of the state and in the state period. Based on what I saw today I don't think he is as skilled as Stephen in regards to shooting but he is a good athlete with a good 6'4, 6'5 body. Played down low a lot to help deal with Memorial's 6'8 Downing. Only had 5 points by my count but had some nice rebounds and a smart quick handed steal late. Had a little bit of a funky jumper, kind of reminded me of Ray Willis' form. Like his potential especially for a 2013 kid be interesting to see how he developes.

In other news Douglass is currently destroying McGuiness 48-22 2 minutes left in the 2nd quarter.

Stevie "Scooter" Clark is the best young guard prospect in the state in my opinion. I have seen him play on several occasions and know his AAU coach very well. He can really shoot the basketball and has extended range. Like many young PG prospects, it will just depend on how much he grows.

I really like his potential though and we will put some video up of him soon.

Really if he is a PG prospect he doesn't need to grow that much. There are plenty of small guards on the college level. The problem is he isn't a PG so he really needs to get to around 6'0 to play his game at the college level. He is much more Page/Clarke than Phil Pressey. He doesn't play PG for his team, which he might for his AAU team.

Again, I think it's funny how people try to pigeon hole kids into a position when it's obvious they have a special skill. Shooting is the great equalizer in basketball and if you can do that at a high level you will get a lot of looks, even if you're small.

One thing to remember about this year's Douglass team is that there are essentially three PGs that play big minutes, and two of them are upperclassmen. Clark is only a freshman. I suspect that he will fill that PG role more after guys like Smith and Williams leave.

Athletes First is having an exposure shootout next week at Edmond. EBossi is going to be evaluationing some of these guys so it will be an interesting event.

Just looked at the story....Douglass won by 35 points, wow.

Leading at half by 28.

It seems that way but if you watch them they really don't have a PG at all. Dorrian Williams does the best job of running the team but they rarely let him handle the ball. Smith and Clark spend too much time hunting their own shot (Smith on the drive and Clark on the perimeter) for either of them to be really effective. Williams is by far the best all around player on the team but he's not aggressive enough to stand out on the offensive end.

Talk around Douglass is Stephen Clark would have been starting qb on the state runner-up football team as freshman. But basketball coaches don't want him playing football.

His cousin is Keith "Moose" Clark, former OU bb player.

from what I heard Douglass didn't have a sr. on the basketball team that saw any significant minutes
