Thanks, 152219!
If all of Clark's 21 points came on treys. I wonder how many shots he took to make 7? Sounds like he could be a terrific shooter in the making if he continues to improve over the next three years.
Nice reports, sam and grace! Thanks!!!
Sounds like young Mr. Clark has a ways to go before he is a legit D-1 recruit. I had never heard of the kid before I read the story about him in this morning's Oklahoman. I couldn't help but notice that he was a freshman who led his team in scoring, a rare feat for an undefeated playoff team.
To me he sounds like exactly the type of kid OU, OSU and Tulsa should all be recruiting. You can show interest and then back away much easier than get it late.
Watching this kid on TV now and he is beyond impressive. My goodness. True freshman has already hit double digits in the state championship game with six minutes to go in the second quarter. hit an NBA range three a few minutes ago. Wow.
Stevie "Scooter" Clark is the best young guard prospect in the state in my opinion. I have seen him play on several occasions and know his AAU coach very well. He can really shoot the basketball and has extended range. Like many young PG prospects, it will just depend on how much he grows.
I really like his potential though and we will put some video up of him soon.
Really if he is a PG prospect he doesn't need to grow that much. There are plenty of small guards on the college level. The problem is he isn't a PG so he really needs to get to around 6'0 to play his game at the college level. He is much more Page/Clarke than Phil Pressey. He doesn't play PG for his team, which he might for his AAU team.
Again, I think it's funny how people try to pigeon hole kids into a position when it's obvious they have a special skill. Shooting is the great equalizer in basketball and if you can do that at a high level you will get a lot of looks, even if you're small.
One thing to remember about this year's Douglass team is that there are essentially three PGs that play big minutes, and two of them are upperclassmen. Clark is only a freshman. I suspect that he will fill that PG role more after guys like Smith and Williams leave.
from what I heard Douglass didn't have a sr. on the basketball team that saw any significant minutes
