Does anyone really think Wiggins is ready for the NBA?

I mean there is no doubt this kid is physically a superior product. No doubt.

But every time I watch him play his game just screams "freshman". He gets lost at times out there, MANY times, and it's like he's watching something in the stands instead of paying attention to the game.

Not that I want a kid that talented to stay at KU - it just floors me that he would be considered ready for the NBA. Especially in this really deep draft.

Ready to dominate in the NBA? Probably not. Ready to play? Sure. He'll be a top 3 pick based on potential, not polish.

That is the thing with the NBA these days. They draft on potential as much or more than a complete game. You can't really blame the kids for leaving. You go to college to get a good job. Are there really better jobs than a NBA lottery pick? You can always go back to college but you can never go back to being a year younger.

Is he ready? Not from my perspective. But he'd be a fool to return to KU next season and walk away from the money he'll make as a lottery pick.

Comparatively speaking....yes he is ready. He is still a little raw and can be out of control at times, but the upside is there. And a handful of teams will be ready to grab him when he comes out.

Pretty impressive so far but I'd tend to agree with the op.

I told you he wasn't ready. He only has 39 points so far. :ez-laugh:

All the tools are there. He could be Jordanesque like. If he can ever figure out the level of intensity that is sustained throughout a game he will be like Mike.
It is obvious that he has more talent than anyone in the draft. The Kid is averaging 18 pts as a freshman on a team loaded with talent. He is most defintely ready for the NBA.

Embid on the other hand would benefit by staying another year under the tutledge of Self just to learn more about the game.

He's ready!

When I saw this thread I just laughed out loud, after what happened today. But I understand why the question was raised... I seriously believe that this guy might be the most talented player in our conference, but don't believe he should be the MVP. IMO it is either Ejim, Smart or Embid.

They are the most valuable players on their teams. Smart won't get it because of his reputation and his team being a potential 8 seed in the conference tourney. Embid won't because he hasn't played every game, and the votes for Wiggins. So, I believe it is Ejim.

I dont deny that he has talent - and a lot of it. He can be very fun to watch. And then, sometimes, he's barely there. Maybe they are all like that these days ... I've just been paying particular attention to him this season. I think he'll be really good in the league some day. Just not sure that he's mentally ready.

Agreed about Embid too. All the potential in the world. I really think the NBA should raise their age requirement to 21.

Yes,let him get the hell outta Lawrence and take a couple of other guys with him.
