"Don't Let The Loss Fool You, The Sooners Are For Real"

Wow! Pretty high praise for the sports writer of a national publication.

He's right about most of what he said. The parts and pieces are in place for this team to have a great season. But, even for an OU homer like me, I think the jury is still out on our chances to make "a serious run at the national title this season." I'm going to wait until we're at the halfway point of conference play before I make that claim.

When the clock hit zero, the first thing I remember thinking was “I don’t think any less of Oklahoma right now.” They literally have all the right parts in all the right places to makes a serious run at the national title this season.

Nice article, though. It's good to know the Sooners are getting some good postive nationally this season.

Again, I agree with ADA, nice article. This team has a tough schedule this season and I am concerned with 8-10 losses? OU needs help and I mean a lot of help at POINT Guard. Jordan Woodard is not the answer and he needs to grow up ALOT! In addition, Buddy needs to lose his inner KOBE vibe and not shoot the ball so much, and finally they still play too much one on one at times. I know that some of this will work its self out, but POINT Guard (Maybe they should look at starting Walker) needs to be addressed NOW!

Flame away!!!!!

Yeah I agree on Jordan. Cousins was supposed to be the most improved along with Buddy and sorry but Cousins has looked worst than last year. Thomas looks like the real deal and Spangler has improved his outside shot. Actually if Cousins, Woodard and Booker just have average games we win the other night.

No flame, but I disagree on Woodard. The kid had a poor performance against Creighton. But so did Cousins and even Hield (in the second half). Jordan Woodard is a proven commodity and you likely won't see the Creighton version again this season. Not saying the kid is perfect, but his play normally ranges from steady to above average. I will say, though, that it's good to have Walker as a backup at the point, especially if Woodard isn't playing well.

I love Jordan and think he is going to be a very solid 4 year starter at PG when all is said and done. However, he is really under the gun. PG is arguably the strongest position in the Big 12. He is going to have to step it up.

Flame away? What board do you think you're on?

Woodard was definitely not as his best on Wednesday -- in fact, it was one of his worst games as a Sooner -- but he's hardly as bad as you've described him. He had a terrific freshman season, and we're only a two games into his sophomore campaign. It's hardly time to write him off or bench him.

Jordan will be fine. It always hurts when your starting point guard fails to perform well in a close game, especially on the road. But there was plenty of blame to go around for that loss. When a team shoots 30% from the field (21% from three) in the second half and blows a 17 point lead with what had to be the worst half of defense I have seen in sometime, it's not that easy to find a few bright spots.

I really like Walker and I'm glad he's our back up at the point, but I'm not ready to see him take over the team just yet. When/if that times comes, which I doubt, LK has demonstrated in the past that he is not afraid to pull the trigger. This is not the football team, you know. ;)

Woodard and Cousins had poor games and so did Thamas at defense and rebounding. Not likely to happen that often that all three do poorly.

Seems like the football team had high expectations also. Hope our basketball team team is better at fulfilling theirs.....really, really hope!

Wow. You remind me of the some of the dooms day football natzis on Hale's board. To already have written Jordan off is extremely premature. Did the guards in general make mistakes the other night?? Absolutely. You can point to 10 other things though if you wanted to. Jordan is above average and is good enough for this team to win and go far in the tourney if everyone is on their game.

I did not get to see that game but what really sticks out to me is the lack of bench production. OU has to get double didgits from its bench and needs to be closer to that 15-20 range. You will not lose many games in college when you get good bench production.
