ESPN Reseeds the Sweet 16

Good. LON please put that on the Locker Room Door.

That's borderline offensive. To put us behind NC State, West Virginia, Utah and the like is just silly.

While I do feel the Sooners were slighted, I'm actually okay with it, because it will make things even sweeter if we do keep winning.

what do you call the last guy in his graduating class from med school?

DOCTOR.

Why would we be ahead of WVU? They killed us there. We beat them in Norman but without their big man, Devin Williams.

If we played them at a neutral site, it would probably be a very close game. But I can't say OU is better than them. And I def can't say ranking them ahead of us is "silly."

We split the series, finished a game ahead of them in the league and a game ahead of them in the big 12 tournament. To put them 6 spots ahead of us is silly.

Agreed.

It might be because WVU beat mighty Maryland by 10 whereas we only had to beat lowly Dayton and struggled a little bit in beating them. Also, they have a better overall record. That's all I can think of. Our conference performance was more impressive IMHO.

I honestly don't care where we're reseeded. I would rather be in OU's position and play Michigan State than be WVU and play Kentucky. We control our own destiny now and rankings don't mean anything.

Consider the source.

Yeah, this is altogether a pretty silly piece. Set OU aside. This guy ranks NC State ahead of Notre Dame, North Carolina and Louisville. All of those teams finished ahead of NC State in the ACC and had better runs in that conference tournament. There is a very good reason NC State went into this tournament as a #8 seed. To "reseed" them as a #2 based on their upset of what people considered the weakest #1 is just knee jerk silliness.

In reality, this is just click bait fluff that makes absolutely no difference, but I kind of like that OU is going into this as a disrespected underdog.

Great point. Dayton was as good as Maryland. No question in my mind. Better defensive team, comparable offensive team. If Smith or Sibert had gone out with an injury at the 15 minute mark, we would have won by 10+ easily. Can't compare based on points.

OU is going to get downplayed simply because the media guys are trying to cover their backsides in how much they were pumping UVA and Villanova. Therefore, the teams that did the giant-slaying will get more press here. Meanwhile, since OU didn't beat any "name" teams, and did not blow their two opponents out of the water (never mind that not being the style they're playing), they'll get ignored and disregarded.

OU was basically handed the sweet 16 with the easiest draw of any 10 loss team in history. We owe that to the hilariously overrated Big XII mirage.

Now we'll see what we're made of against real competition. Could go either way. Look forward to watching.

Just when I think boca is getting better... :facepalm
Its BIG 12 fault that MSU "upset" the 2 seed and #1 seed who went 31-2 got upset...

Has OU at 15. Only ahead of UCLA. Talk about no respect

I read the article, and can understand why we're rated that low. It has little to do with seed, and a LOT to do with our play the past two games. I agree with their analysis that if Buddy Hield keeps hitting on 1-3 of his shots, we're going home. I believe we've run out of opponents we can beat with Buddy Hield hitting 33% of his shots. He needs to get his 3-point average closer to 40% while keeping his 2-point average close to 50%.

At what point will you decide that horse has been sufficiently battered?

Before the tournament, you stated "OU is a top 30 team. So are 29 other teams including VCU and Dayton." So OU beats one of your top 30 teams in a hostile environment, yet now they were "handed" the Sweet 16?

I dont see any reason that we should be rated any higher.

In the grand scheme of things we played some scrubs and now we're amidst the big boys ... and we havent exactly been setting the world on fire.

BUT - the good thing is ... I've seen this team go from looking horrid to looking pretty good over the course of a few days during this season. We DO have the players to do that again and give MSU a tough game.

We beat them in Norman as badly (or very nearly so) as they beat us in Morgantown. Be fair about it. And I kind of doubt that ESPN considered their injury situation when they played us at LNC in rearranging these seeds.

We have more top 25 wins than they do, too.

Easy draws in the NCAA don't exist. But Gonzaga, Xavier, Kentucky, Arizona, and Duke all had weaker draws than us. Dayton alone is better than any of the teams that group played. Albany is a scrappy bunch. OU's about middle of the pack not by far easiest draw.

after 2nd thought...

We are in the SWEET 16! who cares where they rank us!

If OU wins they can't be reseeded any lower then 8th for the regional finals..so that would be a massive 7 spot jump..in other words...just win
