Everything went right for OSU....

Just for giggles & grins, here is the free throw disparity (attempts) for OU's home and away conference games:

Home:

Texas A&M -5
Texas Tech +8
Colorado +9

Away
Baylor -7
Texas -12
Iowa State +9
OSU -18

Only in the OSU game did any team shoot over 34 free throws and they shot 44.

nice stat.. and too me 8-10 seems reasonable.. but 18? lol wow

OSU only took 14 three pointers out of 51 total shots. They had 30 points in the paint...sounds like they made a conscious effort to get it inside. Not saying the officiating was good and they should have shot 44 FTs, but they took it to the rack.

They're the last place team in 3pt percentage in the conference and playing a team that plays its starter 35+ minutes a game...that should be on every opponents scouting report on us. Take it to the rack against OU.

They had all those points in the paint because they had 14 offensive rebounds. I don't recall them taking it to the rack very much.

I don't remember them getting all the way to the rim with the dribble too often, but I do recall several times where they drive to the lane, and have a guy cutting from the wing or baseline for a wide open finish at the rim.

Have to agree to disagree then...they only took 14 three pointers. Keiton had seven of those and would pull up in the lane. They weren't jacking a lot of jumpers.

um getting it inside isn't penetrating. theres a diference and i'm sure you know that.

Consistently ****ty officiating.

Yep... this is the Big 12 we're talking about.

osujeff, you realize you're proving the point with your last post right?

Yes - I realize that I'm proving the point that you get more calls at home in the Big 12.

Has that ever been in dispute?

Some of you guys are acting like this is the first time you've ever seen it happen...

do you have any idea why that is? its b/c osu doesn't penetrate. Just like they didn't penetrate today.

Ridiculous.

Our two leading scorers in Big 12 play are post man (Moses) and a slasher who gets MOST of his points by driving to the basket (Olukemi)... those are the two types of players who generally draw the most shooting fouls.

Jeff you sure do gloat in a weird way.

Who's gloating?

Some of you guys are acting like you've never watched a Big 12 basketball game before with all the whining about the free-throw disparity. I'm simply suggesting that this is very much commonplace in the league.

Exactly.

lol thats b/c we don't usually see it at LNC

not sure why you mentioned moses when we are talking about penetrating. I can give you olukemi. but that doesn't mean you guys were penetrating a lot. which you weren't.

you guys keep saying that b/c you had points in the paint you were penetrating. thats just not a true statement

I've never seen a more defensive reaction to a victory in my life.

Look at the games OU's played and the foul descrepencies in them haven't been that bad till today. It think it was -12 against Texas but that game was a blowout.

OSU had all 3 guards (KP, JP, and Brown) slashing and they got to the line. JP is one of the better slashers in this league, and he shot 13 free throws. He shoots a lot of free throws because all he does is attack the rim.

OU has 0 slashers, and didnt get to the line as much.

Pretty simple.

Yes, but both lead to free throws. You act as if you can only get to the free throw line if you drive into the lane from the perimeter. Not true.

I just didn't see OSU getting to the basket much today. Maybe 5 or 6 times. They got a bunch of points in the paint off offensive rebounds.

I agree I think OU tried to go to the basket a lot more than big says also.

OU only got called for 4 more fouls (3 of which were on purpose to try to extend the game at the end). It isn't like the officials were only calling OU for fouls. OSU got into the lane A LOT more and fed the post A LOT more, thus the FT disparity.

It's pretty simple to see that.

Just for demonstrative purposes, here is the free throw disparity in OSU's four road games this year so far:

OSU at A&M: +11 for A&M
OSU at Colorado +25 for Colorado
OSU at Baylor +15 for Baylor
OSU at Tech +19 for Tech

That's an average of 17.5 additional free-throw attempts for the home team over four games.

Today, OSU shot 18 more free-throws... right at that average.

And in your previous home game you shot 27 more free throws. That's 22.5 more per game average; that's some serious home cooking.

And let me ask you this: After which of those four games -- A&M, CU, Baylor and Tech -- did you not complain about the officiating?

You got a lot of help today -- that's a fact; given that, rushing over to an OU board to argue with frustrated Sooner fans about the game is lame. You weren't around here much during our four-game winning streak.

Forgot to add. The officiating did kill the game for me, way too many touch fouls and some bad calls as well. I hate watching games that have zero flow to them because the refs call too many fouls.

Bingo.

As far as officiating in the game, it was bad, bad, bad. I thought it was bad both ways. Osu got more calls especially after the Ford T. And they got the usual anyone breathe on keaton page calls. It wasn't one sided but killed any momentum in the game. There was no rhythm on either side.
