Frank Booker Update: He's officially committed to OU

Looks to me like a Buddy Hield with a better outside shot. I like him and not just because he joined the Sooners. He has much better ability to get open for his shot than Pledger and just as much touch.

Will depend a lot on how well he catches up with Div I speed of the game.

I think we will be OK from outside. The three freshmen shot well in some games this year and that will show up more after a year of experience.

We know there are shooters out there because Iowa State seem to find them pretty easy. Maybe Booker is a step in that direction for the Sooners.

Welcome aboard, Frank! We definitely need pure shooters. Congrats to Coach Kruger for closing the deal.

Welcome Frank. Hope you enjoy your time here.

No holes on paper for next years team but let's try to keep expectations real. Some of the guys will take several steps forward while others take only a half step. May be 2nd semester before we fans have a clue as to the teams ceiling. No reason to be pessimistic but no reason to predict back to back championships after these next six wins.

Love the optimism, but... :ez-laugh:

Welcome to the Sooner Nation Frank

...this kid looks like he could end up being pretty darn good

Looks like we just found Pledger's replacement. A so-so athlete who can light it up from outside. Have no idea what kind of impact he'll have next year, but I like what I see! Fantastic pickup for Kruger, especially this late in the year. Boomer!

I would guess he's a better athlete than Pledge. He had a put-back dunk in one of his highlight videos.

He probably will be a better athlete than Pledger. Love Bird, but he's definitely not the most gifted athletically. And I can only go off of Youtube, so that's certainly not the best tool in the world, but Booker doesn't look like a great athlete but maybe he'll prove me wrong! Either way, we didn't get him for his athleticism, we got him for his shooting stroke from outside. If he can knock 'em down from out there and play some defense, I'll be cheering him on loudly!

It was nice to see a lot of made baskets in traffic and even a nice midrange jumper to go along with that deep ball

Something that I think has gone under the radar a bit was our coaching staffs recruiting ability was pleasantly uncovered in Bookers recruitment. We found a kid late in the process that fit a role we were needing with Pledger graduating, got him on a visit, and after his visit he immediately cancels his other planned visits.

Kruger and co deserve a nice hot cup of coffee, cause coffee is for closers.

I thought the same thing when I first saw him. Hopefully he can be the same player as buddy.

This is a great point.

speaking of point.....who will play the point next year? Or am I worried about nothing?

We will still need a backup... and freshmen points usually have a tough year.

Cousins is the backup. Hopefully he can recover from his confidence loss this year to be a quality backup.

I can promise, we aren't signing another point for this class. That isn't happening.

Problem is Cousins isn't a point, just like Hornbeak isn't either. We saw how much better Hornbeak is, when he plays off the ball. I am sure it would be the same with Cousins.

I see Woodard is listed at 5'10''. He has good handles and can dribble right or left. But I'm still worried. Hope I'm wrong.
