GAME 32 - OKLAHOMA (19-12) vs GEORGIA (20-11) 8:30pm CST on SEC NETWORK (the Post Season has Arrived)

Toby telling the story just now about McCollum telling the coaches at breakfast before the TCU game he wasn’t playing. That puts an entirely new spin on Porter “resting guys” last year. He said he’s never seen Porter madder.
If he plays, we have a better chance to win that game and we nail down a tournament bid. Porter has every right to be mad about that on multiple levels.

pm should have throw him to the wolves then or at least hinted strongly at it. Mccollum looking out for himself only = your HC looking out for himself then. Tit for tat

The problem is the players have all the leverage in the NIL/free transfer era. Ou is not as big enough of a brand nor does it have enough funding to absorb negative recruiting rn.

This.

Porter would have been within his rights to throw McCollum under the bus publicly. He would have also seriously damaged his ability to recruit.

Was the TCU game our last conference game or in the tournament? Don't remember. What happened? Was it close? Help an old guy out.

I think at some point you have to take a stand -- whether this was the scenario to do so, I don't know. But if you don't have a limit, you're going to get pushed over every time in perpetuity.

TCU was the opening round game in the Big 12 tournament. We thought we were in the Big Dance until 5 teams won auto-bids and stole ours. We "rested starters" to get ready for the NCAA tournament, and lost handily to TCU.

Turns out we weren't resting starters, but a key player walked out on his coach and team. If we win that game, we make the tournament regardless of bid stealers.

Hearing things like this make we want to vomit. Sometimes there are GOOD reasons why PM hasn't been able to retain players. If a player did that to me, there is a 0% chance I'd want his azz on my team the next year...I don't care if he offered to play for free. I can't even describe how much I HATE NIL and what it has done to college sports. A lot (not all) of these kids don't GAF about the school they are playing for...it's all about "I'm gonna get mine" attitude. I don't miss him a bit and am glad he left.

You can't let the players run the team. pm knew he was leaving likely. He should have hinted imo

What about soares? I'm still skeptical of any claim that pm didn't in fact rest him

100%. Need more guys like this in Pitino's below video. He's right.

This group seems to have as good chemistry as we've had in a while. Hopefully, we'll see some of it this the next couple of weeks.

Another take: Toby has to walk a line as both a journalist/radio host and as the voice of the team. There are things he has to keep under his hat. Things we'll never know about the football, basketball, and baseball programs.

Wonder why he's coming out with this now? Did Porter give him permission?

Soares, according to Toby, wasn’t quite ready to go. Tried, but couldn’t.
Interesting that the pro-Moser folks don't dispute this report from Toby, but when he had Jones on his show and they discussed his injury in detail (including the fact that it was the same basic injury that Toby had a few years ago), people still think Jones should have been playing two months ago.

Ah yes, the vast “pro-Moser conspiracy” among OU’s fanbase & administration.
