Great article by Sooner Scoop’s Bob Przybylo!

I saw the press conference and it is hard not to get excited about the team. Wee lost a bunch of close games last year. If we are a little better this year, particularly early, we could end up with a much better record.

He seemed to talk like he likes Northweather and Godwin as back up posts. Maybe they will be decent. He thinks Tanner has really improved athletically and as a player. Same with Jacob. So, we could end up seeing better post play.

He thought all the returning kids had become better players. Really thought CJ had become something different.

Until proven otherwise, I intend to drink the koolaid.

Last years team had to be one of the most unlucky college basketball teams I have ever seen. I expect good things this year.

I liked last year's team. Lost a bunch of close games or could have had a pretty good record. I thought the fact that they didn't have anyone that could really "get" there shot when a play broke down really hurt them in late game situations.

Porter seemed to think that Grant and Joe-Bam had the ability to "get" a shot when needed. So, if that is true, then that fact could help push us to the right side of the score a little more often.

Listening to Porter, we will be deeper at the point, on the wing and in the post. Just have to wait to see if that bares out.

I don't think it was bad luck, it was poor decision making (turnovers), and a lack of athletic guards who were capable of getting (and consistently making) shots. There is no doubt we have better talent this season, and Moser claims they have spent a lot of time talking about the need to take better care of the ball. Sherfield is said to be a great pick and role guy who can score at all three levels and also make the pass when defenses look to take away his scoring. Having the ball in his hands at game point instead of Harkless will be a vast improvement. We probably don't have anyone who can shoot the way Mo can, especially the way Mo was playing the last few weeks of the season, but they seem to think that as a group, there are more guys capable of shooting the 3 on this squad. It was tough last year because two of our guards (Harkless and Goldwire) were bad shooters.

Both the men and women's teams proved frustrating with the number of turnovers last season; hopefully, both will be significantly improved in this area this year (and I think they will).

Sky, Porter emphasized in the presser that as the area where they needed to improve the most (turnovers). He thought with Grant, Cortes and Uzan, there would be improvement. Again, we will just have to wait and see. But, I agree with you that turnovers were our biggest concern last year.
