Ok I know it's kinda funny to continue ragging on Gillispie but this man is supposedly sober now (doesn't drink at all), went through rehab sessions for a long period of his time in Houston to help with his problem, and reportedly donates a lot of his time towards institutions helping alcohol abuse like MADD.

Everyone here makes it seem like the 1st time he steps back onto a college campus he's going to be a raving alcoholic again trying to take home co-eds. 2nd chances much ?

I would love to have Gillespie at OU, but im not so sure he wouldnt rather have Tech.

1.) Texas school
2.) Much lower expectations (kind of like A&M when he took over there)
3.) Better arena
4.) Better talent available for next season

It could be a better deal for him, plus they have been courting him through the process longer than OU.

It will be interesting to see what happens, but for some reason I feel like he is a lock to Texas Tech.

I think Capel struggled to handle things outside of X's and O's. The CEO part of the job. By all accounts Gillespie has been a disaster in that department at every stop he's made.

That's why I don't want him, not because he likes, or used to like the bottle.

Ok I can accept that and everyone will acknowledge he had real problems at UK handling all the duties/expectations of being a face of that large of a program.

Honest question though as I haven't heard the same reports at his prior stops, did he have the same problems at UTEP and A&M ? By all accounts it seems most all Aggie fans still really like him (really appreciate him getting their program on the map) and wish him well even as he looks to come back into the Big 12.
