I can understand why schools with nothing to offer like KU, Baylor and Iowa State were willing to grab their ankles and take it with a smile from Texas. I hope we see a merger in the next couple of years between the Big East and the ACC.

Texas got what they wanted. They needed a BCS conference for their scheme to work. Otherwise, they would have gone independent a long time ago. TU was not going to join the Pac-10 or the Big 10 by itself. Because of geography, they needed the remaining Big 12 schools to stay together for their other sports teams. Now they have 4 years to test and develop their own tv network while maintaining control over the remaining stooges. I can’t imagine Michigan allowing their biggest rival, tOSU to have that much control over them.
