If you could

Unless its someone before 1980, I wouldn't know their dominance or skill set in college, stats don't tell it all.

no NBA... for the needs of this season perhaps Cory Brewer, tough o, tough d, winner, combo guard.

yes NBA... clearly Blake

I could think of a couple people I'd rather have than Heskett and Pledger. Even if Blake and Wayman weren't needs, they'd still be the guys to grab. We could really use a guy like that, though, so it makes it even more obvious.

These hypotheticals aren't as fun unless you put some restrictions on them; I'm sure Notre Dame football fans would love to have Joe Montana in his prime starting at QB this season.

For me, the restriction I would work with is limiting the choice to Kruger-era players, in which case I would chose Roe Osby. We never got to see him and Spangler together down low, and that would have been fun. Plus, I'm not convinced yet that Manyang/Lattin won't be liabilities on the offensive end.

I shouldn't but I'll take Boca's bait about Blake being twice the player Wayman was - seriously is this even a debate worth having? Love both, but Wayman was a better college player, and it's not even close. He was dominate for three years - Blake was dominate for one. Is Blake a better NBA player than Wayman - yes, clearly.

As for the real question - mentioned in passing by someone else, but I would add the best all-around post player - besides Wayman and Blake - and that would be Harvey Grant. Could shoot, rebound and was a terror at the point of OU's full-court press back in the day.

Blake swept all national player of the year awards in college. Wayman never won any of them. Blake is a 5 time all star and 4 time all NBA player. Wayman was never an all star or all NBA. Blake's rookie season he averaged more points rebounds and assists than Wayman did in any season. Blake's worst PER season is much better than Wayman's best.

It's not even close.

Since this thread was basically narrowed down to 2 individuals from the beginning, I'll pick someone outside of that to make it more interesting.

1. Stacey King
2. Harvey Grant
3. Brent Price
4. Hollis Price
5. Mookie Blaylock

I think its obvious adding a big man would go along ways but PGs win ncaa championships. I like Woodard but the guards I mention would go perfect along side Buddy.

I think it would be more interesting to limit it players who never played in the NBA or ABA. Also, maybe 1 pick per category:
PG
Wing
Post

Eduardo would be a decent option, b/c of the toughness he'd bring. And he wouldn't have an issue taking a backseat on the offensive end, I wouldn't think, but is a more than capable scorer. Especially when surrounded by other scorers.

I think if there is one thing you can look at the OU roster and say "might be missing", it's a combination of leadership/toughness.

As usual, you're HALF right. Certainly, no one would argue Blake's NBA superiority. Conversely, no reasonable person would argue who the better college player was, either. You do realize there is a "Wayman Tisdale Award" which goes to the nation's best freshman, correct? As for "National player of the year", I'm assuming you're aware there was a slight competition difference when Wayman was playing vs. Blake.

I tell you what, Boca. I'll list 10 college players who played during Wayman's time at OU and you list 10 players who played when Blake did. If your list is more impressive than mine, I'll concede Blake was the better college player as well.

1) Michael Jordan
2) Patrick Ewing
3) Ralph Sampson
4) Karl Malone
5) Chris Mullin
6) John Stockton
7) Akeem Olajuwon
8) Clyde Drexler
9) Charles Barkley
10) Mark Price

Your turn!

You're really going to cite stats? If so, the stats reveal that Wayman was a better college player (which happens to be what this is about), and it's not even close.

As a freshman Wayman averaged 24.5 ppg, 10.3 rpg, and 2.5 blocks per game. Blake averaged 14.7, 9.1, and 2.3. As a sophomore, Wayman averaged 27 ppg, 9.7 rebounds, and 2.2 bpg and Blake averaged 22.7, 14.4 and 1.2 bpg. For good measure, Wayman's 3rd year was 25.2 ppg, 10.2 rpg, and 1.4 bpg.

Obviously I appreciate Blake and think he's among the greatest players to ever wear an OU uniform and freely admit that he has had and will have a superior NBA career, but in terms of what he did in an OU uniform, it's not anywhere close to what Wayman accomplished.

How awesome would it be if nobody responded to Boca's ridiculous troll attempts?

I guess we have to predict nba careers by who Blake played against since we already know the outcome of the Tisdale list. So in no particular order I listed several NBA players during Griffin's time in college.

Steph Curry
Russell Westbrook
Ty Lawson
James Harden
Roy Hibbert
Kevin Love
Derrick Rose
DeAndre Jordan
Markieff Morris
Eric Gordon
Isaiah Thomas
Brook Lopez
Gerald Henderson
Taj Gibson
DeMar DeRozan
