ISU leads Okie St late.

Smart with a great bucket with 3 seconds left.

21, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for Smart. Plus the gamewinner.

ISU and OSU are the two dumbest teams I have seen in a good long while.

OSU wins but there was a turnover by ISU, foul on OSU and missed 3 all in the final 3 seconds.

Can someone explain to me what rabbit that ref pulled out of his hat so ISU didn't shoot the one and one at the end of the game?

They said it was because he didn't have control of the ball, but my understanding is that is not the rule. Basically all fouls that aren't player control fouls result in a one and one. I'm reading the rules right now. I'm dumbfounded and pretty sure ISU got royally screwed there, though Hoiberg should have been throwing a fit.

treebranch, I completely agree. It's the same as an over the back foul in my book. If you're in the bonus, you shoot the foul shots. Not sure how those refs talked themselves out of the free throws.

OSU had possession of the ball. They attempted a pass and while the ball was in the air Nash committed an offensive foul, so no free throws result from the foul. Just like an illegal screen, a push off or a charge. What is so hard to comprehend about that?

I didn't watch the game, so bear with me... Was this on an inbounds pass?
If so, there is no team control, so ISU should shoot 1 and 1.

If it was on a regular pass in the middle of a play, then no FTs should be awarded.

OSU threw it in from an inbounds play. Iowa St player made a play on the ball, was fouled by Nash before ball he got possession of the ball.

Yep, if it was on an in bounds play, ISU should have been shooting FTs.

Apparently there still is team control because the rules consider the ball live once the ref hands it to the inbounding player, which is, well, dumb. That's where I went wrong. Apparently team control applies when you chuck an inbounds pass directly to a defender. I figured it was more like a rebound, as it should be.

It's pretty simple, the inbounding team has possession. An inbound pass from the side line is no different than a regular pass. Until the other team gains possession it is the inbounding teams ball.

I wish you guys wouldn't jinx Iowa State when they have a chance to beat one of our bitter rivals. This is twice that someone posted on a game where they were leading late (the other was at KU).

If you're going to do that, talk about how ISU has no chance of winning those games, then maybe they'll win and give us something to smile about when it's over.
