Are you the person who overheard the conversation? If so what exactly did you hear and how can you be certain that person in the athletic department was talking about Lon Kruger? Just asking for a better description about how all of this went down.

When I was in Las Vegas a few weeks ago, we drove by the Thomas and Mack a few times and every time the cab/limo driver (who was a different person every time) spoke glowingly about Tarkanian.

If the conversation ever turned to basketball and you were speaking with a LV resident, they spoke glowingly of Tarkanian.

Lon can't live up to Tarkanian's success. It's nothing against Lon, because not many would take over UNLV and live up to what Tark created.

And they are idiots for thinking that way. Kruger took them to the sweet 16 for the first time since Tarkanian was run off. Talk about an ungrateful and delusional fanbase.

Are they not "entertained" by going to the tournament 4 out of 5 years when they had gone twice in the last 15 years prior to Kruger's arrival?

I know people like to think that it is, but it's not all about the ncaa tournament for all fans. Vegas likes things bigger than life - and not another Ned Flanders wannabe doing things the safe way.

Actually, if you base it purely on results, Kruger's got a more impressive resume than anyone else that's been mentioned. Buzz and Pastner are both pretty green (did Memphis do anything this year?). I have a ton of respect for Buzz, though.

There's Brad Stevens, but I think we can all agree that he is an unrealistic target.

Who else has Kruger's resume, or better, and hasn't stopped producing results in the last 5 years?

Kruger would be cool with me. He's got credibility, been successful everywhere and has never been in NCAA trouble.
