These three statements caught my eye as I'm not sure how all three can happen if Arent is expected to contribute much.

It is somewhat likely that LK would consider Osby the 5, and Fitz the 4, if they started together. Certainly not offensively, but at the defensive end, Osby may be the better option to guard the bigger, true center type. It all depends how you categorize somebody playing what position.

I really, really don't see us playing Blair (or Grooms) with Cam, Osby, Fitz, and Arent that often. I don't see that being a good lineup, at either end of the court.

I don't think so either, that is why I am saying that Fitz might be coming off the bench particularly if you take it as a given that Cam is not a 2 [which I am inclined to do at this point]. Again, just speculating, but if Arent can defend and rebound, I "could" see this as the rotation by conference:

PG: Grooms or Blair, but whoever "wins" will get major minutes.
SG: Pledger with Newell getting limited minutes.
SF: Cam getting major minutes with Osby and Pledger getting some time here.
PF: Osby getting major minutes with Fitzgerald getting some time here.
C: Arent and Fitz both getting solid minutes here.

I absolutely think that Washington could be in the mix if we get in foul trouble, but I just can't figure out where Neal is going to fit. Not saying he isn't talented, but I don't think we are going to go ten players deep. Obviously, the big "if" is Arent.

I get what you are saying Mr. B, I just think that a) Fitz will be a better defender/rebounder with LK doing the coaching, and b) he is the one player we know we have that can score it in the paint. Hard to stick that guy, a two year starter, on the bench. Again, I'm assuming his defense/rebounding get better. I know he isn't tall, or uber-athletic, but he has the ability to at least be average in both those regards.

I don't think we are talented enough to even sniff a ten player rotation and expect to win games. That is JMHO but if by conference play we don't have things tightened up into about a eight to nine player rotation, either some of these guys are better than we think, or we are in trouble. I think Cam and Osby are going to eat up most of the minutes that Neal would get, and it will be even worse if Fitz is indeed going to see time at PF.

Honestly, if there were ever a good time to potentially red-shirt a kid, I think that Neal would be a candidate. Dude is going to be an 18 year-old Sophomore, I'd like to see him as a 19 year-old Sophomore. I think he is talented and can help, but giving him a year to develop physically may be more valuable to the program long-term than the 8-10 minutes per game I can see him getting. Plus it staggers our classes up a little better.

I think this is a great idea and one I hadn't considered. :clap

I knew Kruger would read my posts... all the great ones do.

I really hope Kruger and the staff doesnt read this board/site. Especially when the season starts.
