Lazenby vs. McGusty - Australia

You left out minutes played. Mcgusty only averaged about 10 mpg. Ty was closer to 20 I believe.

Also Ty looked horrific last night. 0 points, 3 turnovers, and 5 fouls in 17 minutes. He is not going to play much this season.

Yup imo. Spot minutes to go and shoot 3s on off nights, should be his role

Regardless of the stats from the foreign trip, we all know that McGusty should be one of the top players on the team. We will have to wait and see what Lazenby can do against D-1 competition. I think he will help the Sooners win some games, as he looks pretty good for the last guard at the end of the bench.

My mistake on minutes played. Still stand by my statement pertaining to lazenby. He will only be needed for mop up duty and or serious foul trouble.

I think you are likely correct. Still, he appears to have the potential to be a good role player, even if he is the 11th or 12th man in the rotation. Someone has to be the 11th or 12th guy, and it is a luxury if that guy can actually actually hold his own when needed.

My thoughts exactly. Help in practice and be able to not get destroyed if he is needed in games.

James outplayed both McGusty and Lazenby on this road trip. He will be the first wing off the bench. The gap between James and McGusty isn't very much.... if there is a gap. James is physical enough to backup Odomes at the other wing, too. Lazenby will get some minutes but it may depend on how he looks in the non-conference games as to how many.

Freeman is probably going to be odd man out at the 4. Manek is a lot better player now, and just knows where to be on the court. He's the biggest positive surprise for me out of all the players. He's really good and a smart player, and I don't see a redshirt because he can be a big help now. Doolittle will start and looked very good in the little time he played on the trip..... but he's a stud. A man among boys. Manek will likely back him up but Freeman can't play anything other than the 4. That doesn't leave many minutes for Matt. JMHO.

Man I really don't see Manek redshirting. The high ball screen with him and Trae can be devastating.

Agreed, but his defense & rebounding will determine if its spot minutes or 6-10 minutes every game.

I've watched the first 3 and the first quarter of the last. Right now Manek is ahead of Freeman, hands down. Love Matt, and he's only a sophomore. But in these four games Manek has produced much more. Shooting, scoring, rebounding, etc. He's more athletic and can score in different ways. Just because he's skinny and a freshman shouldn't be held against him. But, let's play some real teams before we really decide.
