March Madness and Covid-19

1. I'm not a "lab technician"

2. I give facts as I see them.

3. Feel free to not read any of my posts, it won't hurt my feelings.

mict is an enigma... sometimes he says things that are super reasonable and seemingly well thought out. Other times, he seems whatever the opposite of that is.

You do the very same except you have help from your friends who are always there for you.

1. We really aren’t testing significantly more people, it’s pretty much plateaued the last few weeks and I saw a 19% positivity rate (I think in Texas but I’m too lazy to go double check) so that means we still aren’t testing enough in certain places.

2. All the other things you said are true AND we will see a spike in deaths based on this surge in new cases.

3. We don’t know what the long-term sequelae are.

I just don't see the need to come in here daily and pick the worst looking numbers you can find.

It's a message board... That is its purpose. You come here every day and read it, because all of us collectively get on here and contribute information to it that we find interesting, or want to challenge, or want to discuss, etc.

That's like saying "I just don't see the need to come here after every basketball game talk about what happened". That's the point of the OU basketball forum.

That's not at all the same.

I am a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma.

I just think Steve enjoys getting his panties in a twist and being panicked about everything. I will not panic. Thankfully, many others are not. He likes to pick certain sources to support his panic. I know and work with many people on the front lines of this pandemic in the OR, ICU, ER and throughout the hospital system. I am glad they are displaying the appropriate level of concern and diligence while keeping a level head and performing their jobs with grace under pressure, as usual.

Steve can panic all he wants. Don’t expect the rest of us to join in.

I'm panicked? Haha, that's news to me. I calmly lay out the facts and give you links so you can check for yourself. It must be awful for you that someone is forcing you to read my posts and comment. Are they making you type your responses yourself or are they transcribing your words? I hope you can break away from your captors soon.

526 new cases today in Oklahoma

It's interesting that Tulsa County has far surpassed Oklahoma County in total cases.

A lot of gyms in the NE are still closed, and will be closed for a total of at least 6 months. To me, that sends the unequivocally false message that infectious disease is a bigger health concern in America than obesity. We are not a 3rd world country.

At first glance at least, they didn't control well for confounding variables. This study had no randomization, so no conclusions can be drawn (similar to the VA study that claimed the opposite results). Hydroxychloroquine could potentially help if given under the right circumstances (i.e. much earlier), but it would take an RCT for me to change my clinical practice.

The entire article is tweets from random people. While I agree we don’t know the sequelae, this “article” is a joke.

I guess it would be a joke if you think they're ALL lying. Again, I didn't ask you to read my post and comment. You seem triggered by it.

More than 40,000 cases today but only 227 deaths. That is a little over a half-percent. Let’s hope the virus is weakening a bit.

The virus itself isn't likely to weaken (if it does, that strain dies out and the current strain continues). Treatment and immunity has improved, though.
