North Carolina reported its highest number of new cases yesterday, 2,462.

My friends, please don’t be this guy. By all accounts he was a super nice guy, but he thought it was all hype.

The head of IT at my daughter's company thinks COVID-19 is caused by 5G. My daughter is his boss and he asked her to replace him on a committee that is discussing how to make their workplace safter for people who need to come into work (everyone has the option to work from home but some can't). He said he just doesn't believe all these safety precautions are necessary. This is an otherwise smart guy.

<Facepalm>

Florida set a new US record for cases reported in one day, 15,300 yesterday. It’s insane that Disneyworld is opening. 45 new deaths reported there.

Yes, I have mentioned how inept we are in this state several times in this thread...we're still not getting any smarter. We finally have mandatory mask wearing, but I noticed it's not being enforced in most public places.

I kind of lead towards it doesn't spread that easily. People are basically still living their lives but with a little more caution. I still don't know of one person that has had it.

See the message right above that... it spreads very easily.

That is what prompted my post. Posting one scenario from a party spreading isn't proof.

And I know just because I haven't directly seen it doesn't mean it hasn't happened. But with as much as people are out and about, I would think if it truly spread very easily, there would be a lot more cases.

After 4 months of the virus, 0.5% of oklahomans have had it. Maybe that is very quick spread...to me it doesn't seem like it

Posting your personal experience is also not proof.

I literally just said this lol

I never said the one case study was proof either but there are mountains of other data out there that shows how contagious this is, in fact, the new thinking is that it is airborne in many situations (as opposed to only spread through droplets).

Doesn't it seem like something that was super contagious would have infected more than .5% of people in a state in 4 months?

I've heard the theory again that it is airborne. This would make masks less effective wouldn't it?

With no precautions it has an R(0) of about 3 which is incredibly contagious.

It would mean that masks are less effective, but less effective doesn't mean not effective at all. Everyone please wear a mask!

After nearly a week, St. Johns finally called me and told me the lab lost my specimen and I have to start all over.
