I think a Marquette win here really hurts OU's chances of hiring Buzz.

Agreed...but man it makes me want him so bad.

Yep. The price tag would probably be upwards of 2.5 if Joe could even get Buzz. Super impressed with Marquette tonight. Great team and good coaching!

Just posted in another thread, but the small window of hope we did have at hiring Buzz just got even narrower. He's looking at a pretty decent raise from Marquette, plus the cost of a potential buyout of his contract, plus the buyout of Capel's... I just don't think it's feasible.

Unless he really wants to leave and come to OU, he will probably stay at Marquette...with a big pay raise...they just won...he won't come to OU....so, who now?

Unfortunately I agree. Marquette has got themselves a very good coach.

Immediately going to his family after getting the win. He is definitely the type of person that would represent OU extremely well.

Truth is, there is no way to know for sure how, or if, this will change anything. We don't know if, or how badly, Buzz wants to come back home. We don't know what OU nor Marquette are willing to pay him. Heck, we don't even know if he'll get offered. It certainly doesn't help (all this winning), but it may not be hurting us at all either.

We are going to hire a "up & comer" because we are cheap. We deserve mediocrity if we aren't willing to spend the cash

Was that really a back court violation at the end of the game. I did not think it was a violation on an inbounds pass

This. The only thing we know for sure is that it will delay Joe's opportunity to talk to Buzz to determine if he is interested at all.

But Buzz's winning actually makes it easier for Joe to up the dollar amount of the offer without his looking foolish. It may cause some boosters to cough up more money to try to land the guy. We just don't know yet. How can anyone say he is not a good coach now? He has been to the tournament for 3 straight years and this year he has already beaten two higher seeds.

Exactly we tried to get the up and comer last time and it didn't work out. I think we are going to try and get the best coach we can this time. And we have deeper pockets than Marquette does.

He's not coming.

Yes, because he didn't establish position in the backcourt prior to catching the ball. Or like cloud said it was a walk, take your pick.

Yes, we are not cheap. Joe was trying to demonstrate his ability to find a hidden gem. It did not work and cost the University money in the end. He will not repeat that error.
