MBB TPT2 TRANSFER PORTAL THREAD 2

Thanks for posting.

I am as guilty as anyone of being completely off topic in many of my posts in this thread. But what's funny is that for all the people who complain about that and want the thread to solely focus on portal player news, when another guy who many on here were clamoring over for several months announces he is going elsewhere, no one even bothers commenting. I guess that sums up the expectations for our recruiting pretty well.

It’s be like 20 minutes since that was posted…

45, but who's counting. And no one batted an eye when Keshad Johnson signed with Zona several days ago.

It was 26 minutes. Lol! And you had already sold the board that no one of their calibur would ever consider OU.

I said for months that I think Collins was one of the most overhyped guys out there. But there were many who desperately wanted him AND were sure we were getting him even before the season ended. And we were supposedly one of the two finalists for Johnson. And there was supposedly a surprise visitor last month. Yet when none of these things actually happen, the general response is to shrug and say there are still guys out there, and hey, we can always play small!

Some prefer to make lemonade out of lemons. You seem to prefer straight lemon juice. It's tiring hearing how kids are either not good enough, or too good for us. How Moser will never be able to bring in good talent even though he already has. Want to argue development, that's fair, but continually selling that OU can't bring in quality basketball ball talent is old and by in large inaccurate. Unless a kid is a within conference transfer he can't possibly have proven himself. The big10 is weak, thee ACC is weak, the pac12 is weak, etc ...

Yep, because as well know, 5-14 against conference foes, and 15-17 overall, screams TALENT.

Another good PF option entered the portal, Tyler Burton from Richmond.

Evidently not anyone. StoopsBros post timestamp is 1002. Wichita post timestamp`is 1028. My math yields 26 minutes not 20 or 45 minutes but 20 is closer than 45.

I'm at the point where I'll just wait and see how things turn out.

The last 2-3 years have not been what I grew up with (Billy Ball then Sampson - college and adulthood)...It is what it is. sucks but nothing I can do about it.

I'll still watch till the bitter end for most games. I'm not planning my weekends around them anymore.

I'm not sold on Moser, as a game coach or a recruiter. I don't think we are bringing in top shelf talent..a couple of top 100 guys is pretty good but again, ratings are based on what they did in HS/club ball. D1 college, B12 is another animal.

Just have to see how it goes. If we lay another big turd this season I think there needs to be some serious discussion by Joe and where the line is. I get Fball, and now softball are king at OU and that is great. At some point I'd like bball (men's....women's already there) to be top half of the league and in the top 25 up to top 10 once in awhile.

Yep.

A little excerpt from TFB article that discusses NIL and the new legislation:

Now, at least, athletes can feel safe about working with collectives. As I have detailed before, agents are already talking to coaches about NIL packages for prospective athletes on the prep level, but more so on the transfer portal. Agents are demanding big packages if programs want to bring in their athletes. That has cost Coach Moser many times in the past few months because up to this point, OU has not been strong in the NIL game.

It also stated that Toby Keith has gotten involved with OU boosters and NIL and they assured Moser that they will get more people involved with NIL and the basketball program.

Good to hear and hopefully it helps us moving forward. Now Moser needs to do HIS part to get things going.

This is in line with everything I have heard also. We are getting outbid most of the time.

The last bit about Toby and the booster mobilizing is encouraging. Maybe we can secure that starting 4 now.

Agree but we better bring a big suitcase of money.

Good news is that a lot of teams have filled starting spots already and probably don't have additional suitcases to throw at people. Kentucky is a concern.
