(Phil) Forte recruited him to Saint Louis.

Forte has since left to go to North Texas.

Not sure if UNT has roster spots, without looking, but that could be the landing spot.

Does this surprise anyone? Their legendary coach is gone, they had a tough season last year. Is it NIL? I know Nova is a private school, so they possibly have wealthy donors coming through with big bucks.

Shot blocking is my number one concern over shooting. Unless Keita or Norweather can be that guy, not sure we'll have anyone to fill that role.

Keita as a rim protector would be huge. I had written him off mostly and had hoped to add one in the portal, but I'm hopefully this means Porter is optimistic about him.

Moore looks a little more athletic and looks to be better defensively than Hill. He MAY have a little better handle and creativity as a slasher. Definitely plays more like a big bully guard.

Hill was a better shooter and played considerably more back to the basket. Like an undersized big.

We don't need a back to the basket 4. We need someone who is athletic, can rebound, defend multiple positions and score around the basket. Perimeter scoring would be great but not a necessity. Same with a post up game. They have different games, but I wouldn't call Moore a major downgrade from Hill by any means

And even if Moore isn't the guy, we have people like Soares, Cooper, and hopefully Cole at some point that can play the position. Way more options than last year.

Definitely not surprised. Nova is too proud of a program to allow themselves to decline.

It's also a basketball school...so their NIL focuses very likely concentrated hoops. Just a guess

Did we try on him? Idk why we dont scoop up the KU processed players and try to get a pipeline essentially. Methinks theres a lot of tread on their former recruits we would have drooled over getting originally

No idea if we made him a priority, but he had Duke and KSU in the mix, so doubtful we could have made much headway. I do think a couple of their other guys who ended up at good-but-not-great schools will prove to be very solid players, but they are guards so they wouldn’t have filled the spots where we still need help.

Couple of quick facts:
-Hill left in part because of NIL resources.
-Previous portal recruits the last 2 years, in part, they came to OU because there were risks of not being able to get wavers.
-My view is if you not have skin in the NIL game don’t complain.
-Keep in mind it is really about how much do we offer. Apparently not enough.

Thanks, Abe. This is how the game is played now. Previous expectations of the program are not all that relevant currently imo.

With the new legislation, we should be more competitive. I don’t anticipate we will be dropping $300-$500k on a portal guy anytime soon, though.
