MBB TPT2 TRANSFER PORTAL THREAD 2

Likewise, I am very curious and cautiously optimistic. I just hope it doesn't turn out to be signing someone who amounts to a depth piece just to fill out the roster. With all the intrigue and excitement, we need to get a difference maker, i.e., a guy who will be a starter the moment he walks in the door.

keep in mind the "big thing" they are working on might not even come to fruition ..

lol WTSooner ...

Could you be any more of a clown?

We'll see how it works out. I like the kid if he knows his role, but it still begs the question of how many bad shooters one starting lineup can have. Defense would project to be very good with a guy like this.

But please tell me how he is going to get more shots at OU while starting along side Uzan, McCollum, Oweh/Cooper, and Hugley? Those are better offensive players than SDST had last year.

I'll say it again, the fact that we're still chasing a starting 4 just shows how many we've missed on so far.

We'll see how it works out, but this isn't the kind of 4 we need, for all of the same reasons that have been argued to death. Hence why I deleted my post.

Fwiw Bob P said if we end up getting Johnson, then the “surprise” won’t come into play.

Thanks. Can you tell from his "reporting" who it might be? I guess if he is right, the coaches need to be smart in assessing which of the two is the better player, and how good our chances are with the mystery man if we don't get Johnson.

Hmm....we need a 4 that can also stretch the floor. This kid has a high FG % but doesn't really seem to shoot the 3 as much. He is very athletic though, obviously.

i want shooters .. but

OU needs athletes that are hard nosed defenders and good rebounders .. ..

that can play in their role

I would happily settle for that. Improving the overall athleticism of the team will go a long ways toward competing in the Big 12. I think Moser is doing just that.

We have a lot of those.

Oweh. Soares. Hugley fits that with a little more scoring.

I just read an article that said he appears to mainly want two things: more opportunity to develop/show a perimeter game, and a good NIL deal from a P5 program. It said he visited USC and mentioned OU as another school he planned to visit.

"The connection to USC is assistant coach Jay Morris, who was on Brian Dutcher’s staff at SDSU and was the lead recruiter when Johnson committed out of Oakland in 2018. Morris spent months shuttling back and forth to the Bay Area courting Johnson and getting to know his family."

Uzan
McCollum
Darthard
Oweh
Soares
Cooper

Solid group. I'd like to get a starting 4 and one more big guard who could play a small ball 4. Or Daimion Collins.

Another wing who can guard. Wonder if the plan is to play 4 guards & 2-4 are interchangeable?
